pound got mad because wise had some sophmores playing witch is legal so they got mad and quit
Good ol' Wise and Pound...the league's 2 biggest soap operas.
So here's what's gonna happen in a few years when we consolidate (which is going to happen).
It's going to be like 2 bratty kids who are forced to share a bedroom. They'll bitch and whine, but will HAVE TO RECOGNIZE that Daddy (played by Wise County School Board) has the power and they'll have to know their role.
I also was told three 11th graders that didn't get to play much on varsity played tonight. Any truth to that?
yeah its true but its legal also
You know what's going to be the sad truth?
The kids from Wise and Pound will handle this consolidation and cooperate a helluva lot better than the adults, THE SO-CALLED role models will. Believe that playas!!!
Well all these kids would handle it alot better if their parents didn't discourage it so much. Most kids repeat and act like how their parents do. But for the older ones in highschool they will have their own opinion where they want to go once consolidation takes place.
i agree with you parents do mess things up for kids in high schools today its a mess
Too many folks putting animosity ahead of intelligence.
I agree.
no 11th graders cant play a JV sport.
JV is for 8,9 and 10 only.
You are wrong on that one.
One more blackeye for the sport.
how am i wrong??
11th graders cant play jv basketball
They can, but you never see it in Virginia. It's just not a good practice because if a junior is playing on the JV rather than the varsity, it's not likely that he/she will ever contribute significantly to the varsity. It's not illegal, but it's not a good practice either.
Now go into Tennessee and you'll see it on a regular basis in the bigger schools. Students in Kentucky and Tennessee can play both JV and Varsity in the same night with a limit of 6 quarters.
even seniors can play in JV games...its all according to how much, if any, a player will play on varsity
If you are getting rowdy at A Pound-J.J. Kelly JV football game, you should look in the mirror and re-evaluate your entire life, nothing is off limits re-evaluate it all. I repeat this is a Pound-JJ Kelly JV Game.
what happend formmwhat i heard is that wise had sophomores and JUNIORS playin since they cant wina varsity game they moved them down to jv to paly a game so they might luck up and be able to experiecne what a win feels like
and there is nothing wrong with that.
well my bad man, i didnt know that
What a bunch of drama queens in Pound, their male athletes and especially the coaching staffs within their athletic programs!
*the end of the Pound - Burton varsity game, 'nuff said
*this soap opera last night
*don't know if it's true, but a coach running his mouth towards a Gate City coach while shaking hands after last years football game
*Jack Hamilton threatening Gate City's coach during the basketball game in which the McMurray kid set that state record.
That's the only ones I know of, and I don't even keep up with it! I'd be willing to bet there are plenty of other incidents that others may want to share.
Here's one LPD fan hoping that when J.J. Kelly gets their first district win in varsity football to break the streak, that it comes against the Pound Wildcats!

i heard that pounds jv team quit before half time tonight is that true

Before halftime? Hell, at least the varsity plays at least the first half before they quit up there at 8 ounces! Maybe the JV is starting a new trend HAHAHA!!!
Dang, I'm not sure I'll have enough time to type up my prediction of the Clintwood-8 Ounce game next week. 8 Ounces just gives you so much dang good material, you don't know what to leave out!
All of this bashing really needs to stop. What is the point. Wise played 11th graders, legal or not that's wrong! Now I can almost say for a fact that if Pound was to bring Dakota Cantrell over to play with them who is a Freshman and plays on Varsity, that everyone on this board would be freaking out. Anyways, that's not even the point. The point is that Pound had 8th, and 9th graders playing last night and Wise had 3 11th graders. And everyone is bashing Pound for quiting at halftime. Ok can you honestly sit here and say that if you were a parent that you would let your 8th grade son play against and 11th grader, I don't think so.
This is something I'll never get as long as I live. How people can label schools, when their school is doing the same thing, if not soemthing worse. This forum has become pathetic here lately on all of this crap that is being posted.
amen.
IMO i think that the game shoulda went on... whether or not wise had players in 11th grade playing. Its a good experience for the kids to get to play tougher competition anyways. I think that everyone is overreacting, especially on this board.
amen.

Wise played 11th graders, legal or not that's wrong!
[/ QUOTE ]
Well, I wouldn't say that it is wrong. I would question the motivation. Now, if those kids are first year players, and do not receive PT in Varsity I do not see a problem with it.
Unfortunately, JJK just does not have many kids on varsity who can compete. I am sure the kids on the bench need the opportunity to play, and learn the game in game situations. Something most of them do not have the ability to do on varsity, mainly because they would get hurt. That is the reason they have JV teams. To allow your younger, less experience kids the opportunity to play, and learn the game at a lower level.
If I had an 8th grade son, and he could play, I wouldn't have a problem with him playing against an 11th grader if that 11th grader was lacking in skill, and learning the game as well. I don't believe we are talking about JJK throwing ringers out there to try and win the game.
I mean, with that understanding, should parents not want their freshman child to play against a senior when both are on varsity. To me, that's pretty much six one way, a half a dozen the other.
Guys, this has been done in various sports by every program in the league. Last night was no worse than Pound bringing 6-7th graders over to Wise to play Wise's 4-5th grade p-nut teams. It works both ways, so let's not try to sugar coat it.
I agree that everyone is over-reacting, but doesn't it seem like everything is being thrown on Pound. And now we are being labeled by everyone on this forum, it's so stupid. Me perosnally, I could care less if they played 11th graders, espically from Wise, because if they aren't good enough to get any playing time on the varsity levels as 11th graders then they shouldn't have had that big of an impact on a JV game. But it's still wrong. However, you are gonna have some that see it differently, and now we are being labeled. Pathetic!
That may very well be one of the more ignorant posts that I have seen on here. That's ok friends from Pound: I know you all aren't like that
yeah this is retarded look at u all ur arguing over the most pathetic thing*---jesus
Yes, please excuse the ignorance in some of these posts.
The skill point is something nobody thinks about, we don't think much when a 9th grader is skilled playing against seniors who are skilled, so whats the difference really? Now if we're sticking out people who start on varsity and have played, what 7-8 games and are skilled, and its just an attempt to smack someone, then you have an issue.
Pound (better known as 8 Ounces) = Whiny Biatches
now that just aint right....
but its funny
I couldn't agree more. But the bashing needs to stop.
Dang, this guy must be quite the athlete huh.
lol you think your funny.. No the reason why some varsity players came down was because some of the Jv kids quit and didn't have enough players. There is nothing wrong with that its not illegal so Pound can quit there whinning and complaing. They are to big for my boys and all this crap well more than likly they will be playin varsity next year anyways so they will be playin juniors and seniors.
I shouldn't reply but I have to...About they are to big deal...Here's a thought...Say you a good Freshman and start on Varsity and your playing against Seniors are they to big and old? Same difference really...I mean your putting a 14-15 yr old out there against a 17-18 yrd old either way right? But I think the rule is if they play JV during the same week they cannot play Varsity that week only alowwed 4 quarters...I may be wrong.
