UltraTouch Denim sound dampening ??
Has anyone used this in their cabinets?? I am starting to research acoustic dampening material, and this stuff looks pretty interesting. Their acoustic rating is given at the bottom of their brochure, and looks a lot better than most of the other materials I have seen at 120Hz. Plus, it is relatively inexpensive (guess there are a lot of teen jeans that make it into recycling) This would be the RE-13 stuff.

I have seen pics of an 828 cab lined with denim insulation. I think it was on this site, but I don't remember who posted it.
I am also interested in using recycled denim instead of fiberglass

Thank you.
That is so wonderful to know of.
I was looking for such an insulation, specifically, for my two eight foot tall "Uncle Stu's Pool Table" panels' rear-side surfaces, and this denim will be HIGH on my list !!
Thanks.

The guys on the PE TechTalk forum - who measure everything down to the most minute details - use this stuff a lot. If it passes muster with the technically-obsessed crowd there, I think you can be assured that it works great.
And I'm seriously considering using it in my current build. For some reason, in my old age I've become very sensitive to those blasted little barbed-needle fiberglass fibers. I'll bet that most of us who have been in this hobby for years still have them embedded in our lungs from thirty years ago.

Make sure the denim is treated to prevent damp absorption and insect infestation over time. Moths in the box may take a liking to LF cones. :rolleyes2:
There are comments on the www. that say that rodents like the denim as nesting material. How high up are your ports?

No problem, just make the ports big enough to accommodate your cat.:D
