Hot links not permitted to ImageBam
Hi
I've just noticed that a threads (like sffan4e's) which have a lot of links to images on ImageBam now have lost the links, so to speak. At least there's now just a silly logo on all those sexy images, which just says: "Hot links not permitted to ImageBam".
Very annoying

Really? That is very annoying. I have a few stories that are really enhanced by the linked images on ImageBam. I wonder if this is something with our board or with ImageBam?

If you check their FAQ (which I did) you'll see that they use certain shared codes within the URLs to permit hotlinking. If they abide (and should abide) by several FTC decisions and recommendations from the Better Business Bureau, owners of images should have received e-mails before this change informing them, so 1 of 3 scenarios could have happened, spam filters dumped the notice, they were never sent out, or owners have become complacent and ignored the change.
Also, as a general caveat, we live in an era now where the head commissioner of the FCC pulled through in killing net neutrality, so this is a minor inconvenience.

I noticed it too a while back, but did not have the energy to go after it.
And even longer ago I noticed the loss of images of Best Nurse Position. In that case inreceived the explanation that they lost a server and that they were trying to recover content, but apperently some were lost forever.
Imagebam does not appear to be too reliable.
Does anyone know an alternative? Before Imagebam I used my Google drive. Unaware that they did not allow adult content I had to remove them.

Would posting the URL of the imagebam picture instead of linking it be a way around the hotlinking issue?

I guess so, but it doesn't makes it easier to tell the story. It also doesn't help get the lost pictures back. But untill there is an alternative I guess we'll have to settle for the links.
