Bolex Exposure Lock/Cable release question

My Bolex 480 is auto-exposure, but you can lock the exposure diaphragm with some kind of cable, according to the manual. Do I need a standard Pentax release cable for this or is it something proprietary? Thanks for any help

Sorry no one is posting, maybe no one knows. Could you go into a camera store to see if you could try a cable release?

I would love to be able to go to a photo store and try one out, but the nearest one is 75 miles away, I went ahead and ordered a standard shutter release cable, they're cheap, and even if it doesn't work, I can use it on my 35mm...

I'm not sure about the Bolex 480, but on the Bolex H8 and H16 a standard shutter release is used to allow frame by frame exposures. The shutter is set to either an instant close or time exposure by a switch on the side of the camera. By holding the shutter cable release down, the time exposure allows the shutter to remain open until you release it.

I expect the Bolex 480 would operate the same. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the reply, but I was refering to the manual/auto exposure system, it seems that normally the camera is totally auto exposure with a manual -1 to +1 f-stop control, but by using a release cable in a certain socket, you can get the aperture size as you desire and lock it down with the cable, so you override the auto exposure feature. The camera has some interesting features, appears to be a quality camera, but nobody I've talked to knows anything about them, if the test footage comes back good, it'll probably be my main camera from now on. Once again, thanks everybody for the replies.

I have 2 Complete Bolex 480 Kits. I have the Cable also but don't use it.
