OT: Oh tee eminence/community HFE1 comp drivers?
Anyone have any experience with these? they came out of a pair of community CSX s2 PA speakers. they didn't sound real great, but they may be worn out. the cabinets looked like they've seen a few miles. and one of them had a loose phase plug. is there any chance they might not sound too bad if they had new diaphragms?

Eminence PSD2002 in drag. Cheap, harsh, and honky.
But what do you expect for around 60 bucks new?
Look at PRV or Dayton, much better. Selenium D220 is OK but no longer made in bolt on.
PRV Audio D290Py-B will make that driver give up and go home.

Thanks OG, i kinda thought as much. replacements seemed a bit too "reasonable". They look like decent design maybe if they spent a bit more on the diaphragm they could sound better. I did recycle the steel mesh grill cloth and handles.

Refreshing to see that Altecs aren't the only compression drivers that the phase plugs fall out of.

Would that make them "out of phase"?
