<td VALIGN=TOP><h5>I was planning to scan another funny excalibur page, but
when I pulled #42 out of the box and ran trough it, I found I couldn't
choose one particular page, so i just scanned all of them.?
I hope marvel doesn't kill me for this, but I have put almost the entire
book online.?
Enjoy and rejoice! My all time favourite comic book, the one that got
me into this habit, is now online. If you have a slow modem or no taste
for slapstick and wierd plottwists avoid this page, but if you like a little
sillyness with method to it go to?

I think my favorite is: "I feel like such a ... a ... " "Boiled egg, Kurt?"
I also love that "baby" bursting into tears at the end. "Oh, Brian, the baby's crying!" "It's not a baby, it's a superpowered alien!"
O Alan, where art thou?

"Exactly Brian! it makes me feel like a...a..."
"Boiled egg, Kurt?"
Comedy is all about timing, and Davis has that down so wonderfully. The humor feels english, anarchistic and surreal in classic Monty Python style. What he also has down is characterization, and even though this whole book is as silly as can be, the characters are treated with dignity, and even the technet and their accountant are likable in a tragic sort of way, regardless of the mean trick their leader plays on Excalibur on the first pages of the book.
The conflict between Brian and Kurt slowly moves towards its climax, while Meggan is innocently unaware. Rachel is "out there",Kitty is perky, and you sort of feel for poor Widget. There are cool explosions, frankenstein parodies, all kinds of aliens and fights, and we get to see the kitchen of excalibur close up.
The best comic book ever in my humble opinion, this one has it all. On the other hand, I'll just have toast.

Ditto REX LUSCUS! I wish they would give an X-title to DAVIS again SANS the editorial restraints. When Davis is allowed to let his imagination and creativity run wild he's at his best!
Oh and BRILLIANT assessment of the issue ELWING! I'd never really noticed it before.. but yes the humor IS very 'Monty Pythonish'...

And when Kitty was pretending to know what Bart was talking about...she was pretending, wasn't she?
