    Question

I saw this done by Tricky in another thread a couple of days ago and it sudenly hit me that it would be cool to see what you guys do too (see I told you I was a little slow). I've just put down work that I have been payed for (work experience doesn't count). So here goes....

    1) Cook in a fish & chip shop (Hired at the tender age of 13 as a dish washer, I graduated to chef within three hours of working when the rest of the staff quit. Stayed for 4 years)

    2) Cook in a pub (at the age of 17 I realised that I could be drinking while I was cooking. Smart lad)

    3) Bouncer at a nightclub (Grew about two foot in a year. Asked to do security at the crappiest nightclub in England. It has brown carpet on the walls. My kinda place so I stayed for three years)

    4) Waiter at a silver service retaurant (Lasted only one day as I gave a Jewish family a pork meal. How was I supposed to know?)

    5) Lighting designer (Through my colledge years. On the side I design lighting rigs for concerts and theatre. I like the purty colours)

    6) Stand Up comedian (Yes they paid me to stand up infront of a couple of hundred people and talk. Daylight robbery I tell ya)

    7) Radio Presenter (In my graduation year for the entire year I presented Shout FMs breakfast show. And I didn't even have to stand infront of hundreds of poeple)

    8) Candle stick maker (Two days in a shed making authentic Irish candle holders. Me being English and my boss being Australian added to the athenticity)

    9) Till tart in a music shop (My dream job. Sitting listening to music. What do you mean "customers"?)

    10) Bouncer again (At the worst club in Ireland this time. I know how to pick 'em)

    11) Opening my own shop ... now I don't have to work for anyone but me! Whats that sir? I should go to the pub this afternoon? Oh, alright then boss, I will!

Gee! I feel like such a slacker with my two jobs.

Baby-sitting - I've been doing this for almost six years. Recently, it's been really easy: Watch Pokemon. Watch Digimon. Chase the kids around while wearing a plastic fedora and pretending to be Charizard... *flapflap*

Library - Book returns. Shelving, filing, blah blah.

    Lightbulb

Heh, Mit, we have at least one career choice in common..

    1) studied to be an architect
    2) drew autocad for a year for a design bureau, it was so bad frownI left and... 3)worked in a lamp shop for two years, 4) worked in another lamp shop for a year giving advice on how to light homes...
and finally 5) still work for a lamp and lighting equipment manufacturer as advisor, lighting planner and all round technical salestype. This is actually a great job. smile
    Boring huh?

and oh yeah, 6) when i feel like it I do illustrations for people. like wedding cards and book covers and stuff.

    Hmm, let's see...paying jobs...I've had a few of those:

1)babysitting - Most young girls' first job.

2)delivering newspapers - Inherited this one from my brother...I actually enjoyed it.

3)waitress - Hated, HATED, HATED that job...part of the uniform was a very tight shirt and a very short skirt...icky...

4)painter's assistant - We painted walls, houses, that kind of thing. Not as exciting as being a bouncer, but I did get to wear a spiffy pair of white overalls.

    5)cashier - At Phar-mor, a very thankless, unfulfulling job.

6)library aid - What I'm doing now. Working in my college's gigantic library...have to pay for that fancy "big-city" skoolin' somehow.

Wow, compared to some people here *cough*ovenmitboy*cough* the jobs I've had are seriously dull... wink

Wow, that's a lot of jobs Mit! Here I go:

    1. Babysitter

    2. Helped out my dad in his real estate office when I was in high school (answered phones, filed, that type of thing)

    3. Waitress at Pizza Hut - I discovered thatI am NOT cut-out to be a waitress.

    4. Working over college summer and winter breaks at a chemical company. I did this for about four years. I worked in Inventory Control, Customer Service, and on some computer projects.

    5. Now, a full-time employee at the same chemical company. (I have a degree in English - go figure!) I am a planner, which basically means I order product and make sure we have enough stock to meet customer orders. This sounds MUCH, MUCH, MUCH easier than it really is.
