Got this from x-fan:

Look at Wildcats for example - a book that I really like actually - but it's blatantly obvious that he doesn't like women in it.

    a) Void loses all traces of her personality.
    b) Voodoo loses her legs.
    c) Ladytron gets burnt to a crisp & is now "inert".

And that's not even mentioning the random acts of horror done to a number of faceless female "victims".

This is the only thing that prevents me rating Casey far higher as a writer. He's good, but if he can get over his tendency to trash women for cheap thrills, he'd be bordering on great.

Still looking forward to seeing what he does with Uncanny though

Does anyone know Casey's previous work? Can anyone verify this? If this is the truth, I will not be buying Uncanny, or any marvel book. I HATE mysogyny for entertainment. It's why I don't listen to popular music anymore, or catch very many movies. If the x-men go like this, they can plaster NC on every cover, but I will not spend my money on them. If I wan't it bad enough, I will steal it.

Hmmm, well, at least what they said about Wildcats is true. I was actually pretty pissed off about what he did to Voodoo. It has become a very masculine book -- not that it wasn't before, since most comics are, but even the obligatory female presence seems to have dropped out for the most part. As I haven't really read anything else by him I can't speak to his other work. Anybody read Children of the Atom? That oughta be the acid test, seeing as it was an X-book.

I dont know about the whole woman bashing thing. I never really got that impression from reading Casey. Either in his X-Men run, or in WildCats.

Was he the one involved when Celicia Reyes and Marrow joined the team? If yes, here is an obvious and good example that he isn't a woman basher. Both these woman, were written as very strong minded and they never really got pushed around.

Yeah I saw that.It makes me wonder....anyways Spatula I wish you could have used a different title because I already feel foolish enough about "Joe Casey our heroe!"anyways I am going to wait and see before passing judegment.

Knighty,Slarti if Casey ends up killing Nightcrawler, turns him into a perv or horribly brutalizes and degrades women you can delete that post.

Still as I said I am going to wait and see......

I read Children of the Atom. Young Grey came across very well in the book.

BAMFCentral your thinking of Joe Kellys stint on X-Men.

Okay, I haven't read Wildcats in a few years, what the hell happen to VooDoo? She's my fave. She looks kinda like me, was one of the reasons I liked her.

Didn't think you would feel that way Drags. I wasn't trying to embarrass you, I just wanted to create a an eyecatching title. I don't think you should be embarrassed about your thread, you had good reason to be elated. I was prety happy too, until I read this. Now I'm feeling really depressed frown The world is going to hell.
