Well known for "The hitch-hikers" books...
has anyone read the Dirk Gently books?

I only ask because his final book "Salmon Of Doubt"is comprised of bits and pieces which were to form the next Dirk Gently book.

For any intrested the 2 Dirk Gently books
    are :-

(1)The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul.
    (2)Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency.

    Yeah, liked them a lot.

Grrrr, I hate when they take someone's notes and try to make a book out of them. It's never right and always comes off as one last chance to cash in. Besides, wasn't the whole '2 books in the Dirk Gently trilogy' thing a counterpoint to the '5 or 6 books in the Hitchhiker's trilogy' thing? Basically a slap at the trilogy craze, wasn't it? I seem to remember Adams saying something like that in the foreword to one of his books.

    Ahh, well.
