PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Director of Human Resources is responsible for organizational development, establishment of procedures, and implementation of policies to achieve the most effective utilization of human resources throughout the world-wide operations of Open Software Associates.


QUALIFICATIONS:

Relevant management or business degree with ten years experience in personnel and personnel management in multinational high technology companies, including policy development and organizational development. MBA preferred.


SKILLS AND QUALITIES REQUIRED:

Extensive knowledge of HR practices within the software industry. Demonstrated track record of successfully initiating and implementing HR policies and practices. Strong communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to write proposals, correspondence, and reports clearly, succinctly, and to a very high standard. Strong skills in negotiation, influencing and relationship management. Well developed sensitivity to, and handling of, employee concerns. Understanding of international HR issues and the key differences between US, European and Asian policies and practices. Commitment to highest level of integrity and business ethics.

Extensive knowledge of software industry business issues. Broad knowledge of all significant developments in HR practices. Broad knowledge of legal and regulatory issues relating to human resources in the United States and internationally. A clear working knowledge of OSA Principles, Policies and Guidelines, and Standards of Business Conduct.


PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Director of Human Resources will build and lead a distributed team of HR specialists providing HR services and leadership to OSA world-wide. Personal responsibilities will include:

 Developing and gaining approval for appropriate human resources policies.

 Guiding the implementation of new personnel administration and remuneration approaches.

 Monitoring the effectiveness of personnel services provided to line managers and effecting improvements where necessary.

 Ensuring that skills requirements are met through workforce planning, staff development programs and external recruitment.

 Promoting safe working practices and industrial harmony.

 Establishing and maintaining incentives in reward structures.

 Develop and implement continuous world-wide university recruiting programs for graduate hiring.

 Develop and implement continuous world-wide software industry recruiting programs for experienced personnel.

Organizational Development:

 Working with the CEO and the Senior Management Team, lead analyses of organizational effectiveness, and propose changes to structure, culture and management practices as appropriate.

 Implement programs to facilitate organizational change.

 Maintain sound relationships with appropriate government agencies, educational and research institutions and industry bodies to maximize OSA?s corporate visibility and credibility in HR circles.

 Participate fully as a member of the Senior Management Team, contributing fully to the development of teamwork, corporate business plans and team culture.

Team Management:

 Recruit, develop, manage and motivate HR employees, including training, coaching, liaison/counseling, performance plans, and salary administration.

 Regular travel required to OSA offices world-wide. Orientation in Australia likely within first three months of employment.

 Company has been profitable each of last six fiscal years, with 40% growth funded by operations.

 Recently completed a round of equity funding for rapid growth to IPO.
