I love my music, and I'm always looking for something I had not heard before.
Last night I got to hear the new Gretchin Wilson Cd "All Jacked Up". I liked it and I was disappointed.
The Cd has some great songs, I love the lyrics to the semi auto biographical "Not Bad For A Bartender". I was expecting more upbeat Honky tonkin songs and got more of a cry in yer beer cd.
The band is hot, Gretchins vocals are strong, I'd give it a 3 1/2 outa 5.
The other Cd I'm listening to is a reissue of the 1969 lp by Chicken Shack - 100 ton Chicken.
This is the album after Christine Left and joined Fleetwood Mac. The vocals are a bit weak, but the blues guitar is pretty good, Its a little dirty & distorted. There is a rock solid rythm section.
The song selection is a bit weak, and it sounds dated, but I like the 60's British blues so I'll give it a 3 outa 5

Evenescence - Fallen has been in my changer most of the afternoon. I got the Cd a while back, but My stepdaughter has discovered that the Old mans got some cool stuff too.
Right now I'm listen to the late Janis Joplin Cd - Anthology. I love her vocal energy on songs like "Try", "Cry Baby" or "Get It While You Can".
rock on.

I love Soul, R'n'B, even Rap, Rock and some pop. I can't get into country, to me all country songs sound the same.

Hello NoClouds, Country music has had so many changes in the past few years that much of todays country is a long way from what I grew up on. Today You have Trad country, Country Pop, Alt Country, Americana, and many more variations. There are so many bands that are haveing crossover hits, the line is getting more blurred every day.
Today I've dusted off another oldie, Edgar Winter's They Only Come Out At Night Cd.
The Opening of Frankenstein causes me a flashback to the Teen Town Dances put on back in my High School. Rick Derringers lead guitars and Edgars wild keyboards backed by the solid horn section makes this a classic. It was/is a very strong Cd featuring Free Ride, Alta Mira, The sad & mellow song Autumn, the Countryfied Round & Round.
I'm in a better mood already

One band I just recently started listening to (although they are/were around for years) is Mountain. Leslie West is the member most people are familiar with. The person who made the band IMO was Felix Pappalardi. What a wonderful vocalist/songwriter!! The tune Nantucket Sleighride is one of their best.
It was such a tragic loss to music when he died at the hands of his wife 2 decades ago.

The first time I heard Mountain was (I believe) on the Woodstock lp doing a "Theme From an Imaginary Western", Then of course there was the classic Mississippi Queen. Leslie did a couple of pretty good Lps with West, Bruce & Lang too.
Today I am cranking up an Austrailian Punk band Radio Birdman from thier Greatest hits Cd "The Essential Hits: 1974-1978.
I discovered these dudes from a DJ friend of mine back in the early 80"s. He had a show on WQRX and he called himself New Wave Dave, altho he played a lotta punk stuff too.
He use to start his show off with thier hit Aloha Steve & Dano, which was thier tribute to the TV show Hawai 5-0. The guitars are fast with a lot of ringing power chords and the Vocals are down in the mix a little bit.
Beach Boys they weren't, but the band did furnished lots of backing vocals, and the Drummer had one speed and was rock steady.

Roger, do you like the British folk band The Strawbs??
They are on a US/Canadian tour in October/November respectively. I will see the acoustic Strawbs in mid November when they are travelling through my area. I just started listening to them in the 90's, although they have been around since the 70's.

I had one Lp by the strabs called Burning For You. I can't remember the stand out songs.
Wasn't the Keyboardist from YES with the Strawbs for a while?

I am not sure if Rick Wakeman (Yes keyboardist) ever appeared on a Strawbs lp, but he played both organ and piano on the Strawbs vocalist Dave Cousins' solo release from 1972.
Roger Glover, of Deep Purple fame, also was featured on Cousins' solo lp

I just heard the new Ozzy Cd, "Under Cover". Ozz does his versions of some classic rock songs including:
Rocky Mountain Way (Joe Walsh)
Mississippi Queen (Mountain)
All The Young Dudes (Mott The Hoople)
Working Class Hero & Woman (John Lennon)
I really love cover tunes and I like this one alot.
The other Cd that is in heavy rotation on my Changer is a band called Franenstein 3000, They do a crazy version of the Beatle Classic "Good Morning Good Morning", and this disc is filled with great guest vocalist such as, David JoHanson joing the band on Babyalon, Cherie Currie helping out on the Runaways hit American nights.
This is another under rated Cd that is very stong and should be in your collection if you rocked in the 70's & 80's
