<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">He's the nicest mad ever met, every time I've met him. I remember last time around after the show security was trying to get everyone to leave the back of the theater by saying the classic "The band wants everyone to go home so they can leave" and one of the roadies said "Excuse me? Mike said that?" To which the security replied, "That's what I was told". So the roadie went into the bus and got Mike out, and he told everyone waiting that he didn't say anything like that and that he just needed a few minutes, and he'd come out to sign autographs and take pictures. I thought it was great.Originally posted by BigErn72:
I was there that day too. Mike was really cool, took the time to talk to you and made it a really nice experiance. I was a little worried because you hear those stories about people meeting their heros and when they finally get to meet them they get totally turned off by them, but Mike was far from that really, really nice guy. I also got to talk to Billy Gibbons and Jimmy Shine that day too.
yeah, i was there that day also. got my pic with him. it was cool to meet all the other car people too, like dean jeffries and big slice.
but what was cool for me was that i got there early, and mike drove both his cars in (the 40 and 46 fords) and was walkin around with donny and some other folks. it was cool to see the cars up close and all, and see mike just relaxing and being himself. i didn't walk up to him or anything, just stood around looking at other cars and taking it all in. if you're interested in the bike, check out the author's website:

the author, Paul Grushkin is a great guy also, and i encourage you to check out this book. i met him at the grand national roadster show a few months later, and he took a picture of me (i think b/c i had a social d shirt on) with me holding a copy of his book for his blog. very friendly and the book is worth the money!
what i want to know is who's the chick in the photo? She's pretty cute.
found another picture of the event on the website with Mike in it, along with a write up. just scroll down a bit.
