Anyone know of any movies/books the deal with two (or more) beings merging into one, like in the movie; The Fly?

Offhand, I'm thinking of the movie 'Alien Resurrection'. Ripley + alien queen = morphed Ripley.

Vaguely remember a book I read from years ago that had deep space colonials forcibly morphed with an alien entity. The book may have been 'Men, Martians, & Machines' but I'm afraid I probably have my books confused.

The remake of 'The Thing' (Carpenter) as you know, features the alien's ability to assume another entity on a molecular level, but don't know if that's what you had in mind.

If I think of more, I'll post them.
