Question

    Hi guys

I hoping some of you can help me out.

I'm conducting some academic research about purchasing books online.

If any of you have bought a book online i would appreciate if you could answer my questionnaire for me.

    http://www.dcs.shef.ac.uk/~m2mp/questionnaire1.htm

More information can also be obtained from this link.

    Thanks

    This is utter nonsense.

Academic research can't be done with a totally self-selected demographic - i.e. people willing to click on a link and fill out a survey. You have to chose a representative group.

I don't even have to click to know this guy/gal is selling something.

    Be warned.

I looked at it, thought it was a bit suspicious, but what really turned me off was the number of personal questions. Anybody who hands that sort of information to someone over the Internet, not knowing who they are, where they are, or what they're really after, is asking for trouble.

Hmmmm...yeah, it's a tad suspicious. Maybe answering the questions as either a Centauri or a Vorlon would provide meaningful responses so the information would truely represent what the originator intends to measure.

    Certainly wouldn't hurt...

Any objections to me deleting this topic? I usually delete topics started by new posters to Hostboard that arn't relevant to the board. I usually wait to see if they become a active member somewhere at Hostboard first unless it is really really without clicking the link. I'm a bit lazy and don't always click links... Let me know how you all feel about this.

While I am not sure that this will lead to a representative sample, and that is problematic, the questions on the survey are legitimate. You do not have to fill out the follow up info if you do not want to. Most of the info that people might not want to give out, phone numbers and the like, pertain only to people living in the UK.

The other demographic information is very tame compared to what most research asks for. For example, in the research I conducted while working on my doctorate, we commonly asked for the race, number of children, level of education, marital status, sexual orientation ect...

Azziz, delete it if you want as it does not fit the forum.

    minesh,

We are a board of old and new friends. If you had posted for a bit before asking for help, I'm sure people would have been glad to help you out.

I hope you decide to stay around and post here. We always welcome new members. And I thank you for posting again. It lets me know that you weren't just posting to annoy the board and disappearing. Unfortunatly we get several posts like that here.

If this board isn't your taste, check around Hostboard there are many boards that might be of interest to you. I'm curious why you choose this board for your post. I'd be interested to hear why to satisfy my curiousity. If you don't want to discuss it, that's cool too.
