Performing her signature hit "Rehab" while walking along the front row of the audience, Winehouse appeared to punch an unseen fan, judging by a video posted on the BBC News Web site.

As she continues singing, Winehouse can be heard grunting as she thrusts a fist into the crowd, then quickly scampers backwards on her high heels under the watch of several large security guards.

On continuing her forward progress, she appeared to glare at the person in the spot where the incident took place.

According to the BBC, police said they had received no complaints of assault following the show, and festival organizers said there would be no investigation into the incident. Festival founder Michael Eavis defended Winehouse, saying she appeared to have lashed out at the crowd after being touched by a fan, telling various British media outlets that the audience member had either grabbed the singer's signature beehive hairdo or one of her breasts. It was unclear from the video what provoked the action. But Eavis, describing her set as a "triumph," said that the singer asked if she could headline the fest next year.

During Winehouse's set, the singer also reportedly addressed Kanye West in the midst of performing "Some Unholy War." Festival attendees reported she improvised the lyrics to say, "At least I'm not opening for a c--t like Kanye."

Fan filmed Amy Winehouse incident

James Gostelow recalls the moment when Amy Winehouse elbowed him in the forehead thinking he threw a hat at her beehive.

A man who was allegedly elbowed in the head by Amy Winehouse at Glastonbury Festival has handed mobile phone footage of the incident to the BBC.

James Gostelow, 25, from London, said the singer caught him on the forehead after someone in the crowd behind him threw a hat at her.
"Not everyone can say they have been hit by Amy Winehouse. I just want to shake the person who threw the hat."

SR: When Oh When is SOMEONE going to realize this talented woman has a very serious problem that needs to be addressed fast ?

And when is SOMEONE going to provide some tough love intervention before Ms. Winehouse does the Janis Joplin route and occupy a plot in Highgate Cemetary ?

Speaking of Janis Joplin, at least she knew she had a problem with booze and drugs but she at least had people who tried to straighten her out and provide needed help...

However it seems as though the Media, Family Members, and Ms. Winehouse's friends are just standing their like giggly kids on a playground waiting for Amy to walk on the patch of ice and flop hard on her *** !!!

Stevie Nicks and even our own Cherie had problems in the past with controlled substances but at least they realized where they were headed and pulled themselves out of a near fatal nose dive and came back better than before much to the gratitude of their fans...

Sadly it seems Amy Winehouse is being treated as the newest sideshow attraction and when she dies, well **** her label made a ton of $$$$$ and will busy themselves making their new sacrifical lamb uh I mean singing sensation ready for the media circus

Lastly just where the F**K is Amy's Manager while all this is happening ? I have yet to meet a Manager that would even allow this to happen to their Prize Property !

This is a sad story that we hear all too often.. but SHE has to WANT to get better. Her love affair with the needle is something I can't relate to... never done it (thank God) but have seen first hand the carnage it leaves in it's wake. I just wish her well... Wish she could feel what I feel in sobriety. It's takes strength and determination to get here but worth every painful second.

It is to easy to point fingers and ask why didn't you stop her, but as someone who had an addiction, I can tell you that until SHE admits to herself that she has a problem No One is going to be able to stop her self destructive path.

That is so true i have this family member that's been strung out for 15 years and i can tell you there's nothing out there that we haven't tried to help her she's still useing cause plan and simple she doesn't want help.

LONDON- Soul singer Amy Winehouse has developed the lung condition emphysema and has been warned by doctors that she will die if she continues smoking drugs, her father said in an interview on Sunday.

Mitch Winehouse said the incurable illness, which leaves sufferers struggling for breath, was diagnosed when his daughter had series of health checks in hospital.

"The doctors have told her if she goes back to smoking drugs it won't just ruin her voice, it will kill her," he was quoted as saying in the Sunday Mirror. "The doctors have said that if she had continued the way she was going she could have ended up an invalid -- she wouldn't have been able to breathe."

He added: "She's got emphysema. It's in its early stages, but had it gone on for another month they painted a very vivid picture of her sitting there like an old person with a mask on her face struggling to breathe.

"With smoking the crack cocaine and the cigarettes, her lungs are all gunked up. There are nodules around the chest and dark marks. She's got 70 percent lung capacity."

He added that a spell in hospital last week and renewed treatment for her well-publicised drug addiction had offered a ray of hope for his 24-year-old daughter.

I too used to be a wild party person in my College Days and I too learned that once you hit the real world on Graduation Day you'd better get your butt in gear or wind up in a group home or dead...

Arctic Monkeys' Jamie Cook has said that Amy Winehouse shouldn't have performed at Glastonbury on Saturday (June 29).

"Only a week ago she was seriously ill and now she's performing gigs," he said. "She needs to take a break before sorting herself out."

The same report claimed the Sheffield band had shunned the singer by not attending her Glastonbury set, although Alex Turner and Matt Helders were onstage with The Last Shadow Puppets, while Cook watched from the wings at the same time Winehouse was playing (Daily Mirror).
