Re: Clintwood
To look at these two teams win loss records one could easily see Burton would be the favorite..... but that`s not the case in my eyes. Burton seems to be getting worse as the season goes along IMO. Their peak game was Powell Valley and have been going down hill ever since. It may be due to the lack of schelduling good non district games. Probably schould have been beat by a Clintwood team if Clintwood would have had a slightly better offense. Feel like if they were to have played PV later in the year would have had a loss also. Took some time for the young PV team to grow up, and the line chnages have made a tremendous improvement. Where is this game played at by the way? If it`s in GC well Burton strap those chin straps on tight, and if it's at Burton I believe it will be GC by a touchdown.

Re: Clintwood
It's at Gate City. The place will be extremely loud, especially with the great weather predicted for Friday. Then again, I've never been a firm believer in a weather forecast from a week away.

Re: Clintwood
GC will beat Burton by at least 2 td's. Legion is by far the toughest place to play in the LPD.

Re: Clintwood
I just hope we can score 2 TD's on them. That seems to be a feat in itself.

Re: Clintwood
Has anyone scored 2 on em yet?

Re: Clintwood
Looks like Castlewood is the only team to score more than 8 points on em all year with 12. And the 4 shutouts are impressive as well.

Re: Clintwood
those 12 were given up by the 2nd team

Re: Clintwood
I think GC can score on them twice and shut them out. I look for it to be 14-0, 7-0, type of ballgame. GC has the athletes to compete with and shut down there athletes. If we had people to match up with there skill people they would not have scored on us. They would still be playing the 40th overtime right now. Again if we had not coughed it up 10 times it might have been different. Kenny rushed for 100+ yards against them, no domination in that aspect, just could not hold on to the damn ball.
GC-14
Burton-0

Re: Clintwood
If Burton hadn't of dropped so many passes they would have scored 21 poinst easy.
just like the turnovers by Clintwood, we can saw WHAT IF all year long. Just like the pass that was in Burton's QB's hands in the endzone and it went right through his hands. That is 6 points right there dropped.
Both teams had an off night in certain aspects of the game.
both defenses picked it up and kept the offense in the game.

Re: Clintwood
I personally believe that GC and Burton will be the game of the year. I said this a while back, and the Clintwood/Burton game (which was a CLASSIC, turnovers and all) didn't persuade me to think and believe otherwise. Clintwood's D-Line is one of the BEST in the LPD. They got so much penetration that Burton couldn't set up the jet sweeps and traps they like to do out of the running game. On offense, Clintwood ran the ball like nobody's business. However, Burton's defense came up with the right plays at the right times...they played bend but don't break. Clutch throw at the end by Ethan Stewart...very nice touch on the post route.
Amazing game all around. Congrats to both teams...because that was a highly entertaining game and both of the boys left it all out on the field. That was the epitome of LPD football. Burton and GC have to play one helluva game to trump the effort put out on this past Friday at Lawson-Fitchko.
That said, I think:
Burton 21, GC 16. My prediction.
