Re: Clintwood
Here is another opinion for what its worth. All year, I have watched Burton play. Each week they have came out and played, and every defense they've played has had one recurring theme. These defenses have packed at least nine people within five yards of the line of scrimmage expressly to stop the run. Clintwood was the most successful in execution of this defense. When Burton steps up and completes their passes, then teams get beat. I give props to Clintwood for the job they did, but playing that defense leaves you venerable to the pass. I being a former lineman take exception to the statement thaat the line isn't any good. You cannot block nine people with only five linemen. As far as GC versus Burton, I expect to see the same thing. If the passing game is on, Burton with their much maliaigned small line, will still have a chance to succeed.

Re: Clintwood
Who in the LPD doesnt put 8-9 men in the box. Every team in the LPD is predominately a running team. We ran a form of a 5-3 with the DE's out wide to try and prevent them from getting around the end with there speed and athletes, not any running game that Burton had which they didnt have one at all in my opinion. Burton has some of the best athletes Ive seen on any football team but they also have the worst line of scrimmage Ive seen this season as well. Like I have said, Burton played there guts out and they have my upmost respect.
This game is over, lets move to the final week of the regular season.

Re: Clintwood
To me the key will be Gate City having fresh people near the end of the game IF its close, which means they will be able to continue putting pressure. Clintwood is/was pretty much playing 11 guys on defense, and most of them going on offense too, by the end of the game, no matter if they are in shape or not, you get a step slower and with Nortons speed, that step makes a difference.
Now if the game has turnovers or one team has a bunch, no telling, but if Gate City can hold onto the ball, they can, in my opinion, pound the ball at Norton and not sure that Norton can stop that.
Rather anybody wants to admit it or not, numbers play a difference, especially late in the year, nagging injuries and counting on a lesser number of people out there catches up with you.
Norton is talented, but believe they will have to get some help from turnovers to beat GC. A close game for a half with Gate Citys size wearing down the smaller Raiders late.

Re: Clintwood
If it were at JIB, I'd take JIB. Unfortunately, it's not. Legion can be a nightmare. For any of you people that go, buy a program. Look at the W/L record that they have there. It was like 230-20 something. Crazy.

Re: Clintwood
Regardless of the fact if Burton wins or loses they still have a share of the LPD title. Alot of talk on here from fans whose teams will be lucky to even make the playoffs. Its kind of funny im my eyes, everyone was riding the Burton high horse after they beat Powell Valley and Appy saying they were going to win district, now all of sudden everyone is putting them in the doghouse. LOl..haha1 How sad you all sink when you realize how much better we are than your team. Bottom lIne is we will be in the playoffs while you are sitting on the couch.

Re: Clintwood
*gasp* Oh my God you mean it, you mean we really don't make the playoffs??? Oh no, how will we live!!!! Why why why...oh wait I know why, we didn't win games we should have. Oh well, that happens sometimes.
Geeesh I would have thought you would have at least had something original to say.
Yeah Norton will at worst have a share of the district title, nobody is taking that away from them, just voicing their opinions and what may be trouble for them. Sorry if you don't like those opinions, and unless they win state, those opinions will at least appear to be valid. I hope they win it, but as of this moment, I don't believe they will. Hope they prove me wrong.
When you start sounding like the man or whatever, you really should worry about yourself though. I mean come on Burton2019, you normally make better posts than that.

Re: Clintwood
man im just tired of reading this ridiculous posts all the time, its like this every year, especially during football time....at the beginning of the year it was everyone downing Burton, then they started to win, and everyone jumped on the bandwagon, now they are 9-0, and everyone is going back to saying they are no good....guess what we will be LPD champs....no one else can say that this year......hey maybe we make it to state, maybe we wont, but at least we will be in the playoffs trying.....alot of other teams will be at the house wishing they were in our shoes..this is just getting old week in and week out

That was replied to me. Just checking. I hope JIB can do it, like I said, it'd not be anywhere near the task if it were at JIB.
