final
VT goes to 2-7 in the conference 13-10 overall
7 games left:
@UVa
NC St
Clemson, @Clemson
FSU
@Miami
@BC
all are winnable...looks like the most probable wins will be
UVa, Clemson (2), Miami, FSU
moving VT to 7-9 on the year for ACC play and 18-12 overall
a win or two in the acc tourney could still put us in the ncaa
I think that 8-8 would need two tourney wins to get in the big dance. 7-9 wont cut it. 9-7 is on the bubble depending on the school and ncaa politics. I remember in 99, uva goes 19-10 with a 9-7 conference record a tourney win, two wins over carolina, a win over maryland, beat wake twice. Carolina gets picked over us with an 17-14 record and 8-8 in the conference. Only tobacco road gets political help. Everybody else just has to out perform or go to the nit. Welcome to the ACC... conference of corrupt administrators and vicious politics. Swoffard sucks as does his alma mater (unc).
nc state got in with 7-9 last year
im pretty sure it was state...one team with 7-9 jumped VT who had 8-8...i rem b/c i was pissed as (beep)
The ACC was a better conference last year.
I agree with pvhoo, this year, in the ACC, IMO, you'll need to win 8 games and have a decent NC win.
stanford would be that for VT
so you dont think Tech would get in with 2 wins in the conf tourney...making them 9-9 and 20-12
Depends on three things-
Who they beat to win those two games in the tourney;
How their losses look (how many "bad" losses they have);
How Stanford's season turns out.
