PV's summer varsity played Gate City's summer varsity in Kingsport didn't they? I believe they also played Dobyns Bennett that day. I'm not a hundred percent sure but I believe that is correct. The jv teams (pv and gc) also played eachother in the dairy queen tournament with chandler and grills pitchin against eachother and the final score after 6 innings was 0-0. They tossed a coin at the end of that game to see who was the winner. Gate city came away with the win because they won the coin toss. Both girls are excellent pitchers and it should be a fun and exciting year to watch. There is nothing better than good solid competition. Nobody likes to watch a runaway game. Summer ball don't really measure what the varsity will have.
I think the Chandler girl will be the best pitcher in the LPD and I know Holly Gilliam is a very good player.
I also know Gate City will be putting runs on the board no matter who is pitching.
If Odle learns another pitch or two it will help her alot.
Grills has the potential to be very good if she takes coaching and works hard.
With that said Gate City will be hard to knock off the top,
with their defence and hitting, their pitching will get better as the year goes along.
