since bonds is now the owner of the most revered record in all of sports........deservingly or now........he will without a doubt get voted in.......but that also means that guys like mc gwire and palmiero also deserve to get in........and if bonds does and they dont......the hall should be burned down </div></div>
I'm not going as far as to say burn down the HOF. But this definitely will make the voters have to rethink their "Nobody on steroids is going to taint our hallowed halls." McGuire was kept out his first year on the ballot because of steroid suspicion, silent admission, whatever. Based on that merit, Bonds should also be kept out on his first ballot for the same reason. And, as MASN sportscaster Bob Carpenter said, "There are fans out there who will still consider Hank Aaron as the Home Run King until somebody passes Barry Bonds."
The record is tainted. Either in reality or in the minds of millions (just a guestimate), there is a stain in the record books now. It has nothing to do with race or anything like that. It's a performance-enhance substance thing now. And yes, I cheered for McGuire and Sosa in 1998. I also frowned heavily on McGuire's admittance to using Andro, which was legal at the time. But, as many people have said, that's why it is known now as the "Steroid Era."
