Again, some of the girls on there deserve to be on it, but why 7 infielders instead of 4? Most of them can only play one position and aren't that good at any of the other positions if they needed to be moved. For example: What if say, the shortstop had to move to catcher and the catcher had to play 2nd?

The reason they put this many infielder's on the team is because apparently some of them tied, so what are they supposed to do other than add them on to the team? You can't do anything about a tie in this situation. I know that my daughter pitches more than anything else, but she can also play other positions. For instance she played 1st base this past weekend (when she wasn't pitching) in travel ball on a 19 and under team in Knoxville and she did a fine job. The kids that make All state are usually extremely athletic and are very capable of playing just about anywhere.

BTW, Marie Chandler was also the Region D pitcher of the year. Marie and Kaylla both made this all state team as Sophmores. I think that is pretty great.

I think they vote on the players, rather than the positions. The stats pretty much make the team, although there is some politics behind POY and COY.

Yeah, both are sophomores, and are good players. But you are missing what I am saying. An "infielder" should be able to play any position in the infield, except maybe pitch. I know Marie is your daughter and you are partial to her, so for the sake of arguments, let's leave her and Holdway out of the mix, as I have seen both play for years and I know what talents they have. All I am saying is that I think 7 infielders is too many, be it that there was a tie or not. The coaches should have kept voting on the ties until it was broken, bring in the individual stats on the players, BA, OBP,SLUGGING%, RBI, HR,etc. In the case of a tie, that is what should be looked at and not the fact that they are seniors, sophomores, what schools they attend or whatever the case.

I congratulate every player who made the team. I think it was a great accomplishment for them.

My Daughter also played in the tornament at Knoxville, I didn't get to go. She was bragging on Marie however. Congrats to both Powell Valley girls for making All State .
Also congrats to Samantha, Hannah and Aubree ! Go Region D .

Did your daughter play for the 19 and under age group? Every girl on the team Marie played with this past weekend was awesome. Marie had the best catcher and defense she has ever had in her life, lol! I think the Odle girls are awesome. I really liked them and enjoyed watching Marie play with them. We are hoping to play in the World Series with this team in a few weeks.
