You play, you pay. Choose to participate, you put yourself in a position for such discussion. No matter what age.

What difference does it make how old he is?

    Re: Pinkston

I am glad this place wasn't around when I was in high school. 50% of just about every team in this area would not have a team if they gave drug test to these boys every week. And any parent out there who thinks their kid is just going to hang out on weekends after games needs a wakeup call. Give a drug test to these kids on Saturday or Sunday morning and see how many suit up the following weekend. A lot of people would be in for a rude awakening.

And that is sad IMO. Its too bad random testing is done across the state.

LIKE I SAID BEFORE, IT IS HIS LIFE! LET THE AUTHORITIES HANDLE IT.

Seriously, you all never cease to amaze me at how quick most of you are to judge people, even children. Wit the exeption of a handful of you all that are commenting on this kid, none of you have any children at all. What if it was YOUR kid being crucified on here? I never once said I agreed with what he did or is doing, just that he is a kid. What if it was a kid playing p-nut football and was a heck-of-a ballplayer and he did something like what this kid was supposed to do? Would you still "crucify" him in the same way? Let the authorities deal with him and not us. NSSB, if he was your kid, would you be sitting still letting this board do this to one of your own. What about you elp? Or what about you lung? No, he is NOT a public figure as someone stated above. He is a private individual, not elected to any office nor is he being paid to play ball. I think that none of you would sit still one minute for something like this. What you all are saying and doing to this kid is just as criminal(morally) as what this kid was supposed to have done. I suppose none of you have ever done anything wrong in your life, have you? Just sit back and think about what you all are saying a doing. It is just wrong. </div></div>

Thanks for brightening my Sunday night.

    Re: Pinkston

What is the difference between this kid and the others that Norton have accepted and allowed to play through the boys home in Norton that is shut down? Those boys had been in trouble, tossed from home to home and finally, through the courts, appointed to the Victory Boys Home. Those children, much like Mr. Pinkston had been into some trouble, but many of them participated in football at Burton whether they were good or not. No one ever questioned Jimbo for taking those young men into his program and trying to help them become better students and men! I attend church with one of the house parents that used to work there and he sung not only the praises of Jimbo, but Mr. Scott Keith and the entire Burton faculty for their abilities to handle these children. I think we all must remember that the men and women in our educational systems SHOULD be in their positions due to their love of shaping the lives of children and educating them to become productive members of our society. Why should such educators (some of which are coaches) turn their backs on kids, espically those that need help the most?

First off, I haven't said a mother [censored] thing about the kid. I could care less what he does; rape goats, sale drugs, mug little old ladies, I could give a rats ass. If it were my kid and he had been a [censored] up his whole life, he's open to the criticism he gets. Let him have it. You make your bed, you lie in, and you face the concequences. If anything is said about my kid that's untrue, I'd defend him. If people are saying things that are the truth about him, what the hell am I supposed to say about it as a parent? "Oh please, I know he's a complete screw up but lets coddle him and act like nothing happened.". To hell with that, that's why none of these kids have any respect, can't stay out of trouble, and make complete asses of themselves like 99% of the high school kids that log onto this board. Parents need to start beating some ass and these delinquents will have this behavior curbed before they reach 18 and start doing things that sports, the "coddle technique", or any of this other bullshit will fix. Now, none of what I said is addressed toward the person this thread is related to as have none of the other posts I've made in it have. I don't know the situation, I don't care about the situation, and I could care less. The whole sweep it under the rug and lets act like nothing happen defense is horseshit though. I'm sure you didn't raise DJ or your kids like that and I'm sure if he were a screwup you'd break those habits. People feeling the same way about another kid is no different.

    Re: Pinkston

...and by the way, I could care less if he plays for JIB, PV, CW or whoever. I said to start with, he's not going to make a difference for JIB to beat Clintwood or PV this year. He's not that kind of players. If you want to put him on a team he'd make a big difference with, send him to Ervinton. They've got 13, another body would do them well. Or let him play at Norton. It's no skin off my ass and I could care less. If he plays, I hope he's healthy, he has fun, and he's successful.

    Re: Pinkston

I'm not saying a word about the kid - I know zilch about him or the situation. Nothing wrong with playing a little devil's advocate. I just think it's a double standard to talk about the under-18s day in and day out but when someone thinks the talk isn't nice it's time to stop talking about the minor.

Hey Lung, do you pick PV over Burton this year? I may have just misunderstood what you said but it seems like that's what you were implying with that quote. (If it's not, my mistake.)

I know that only one 'true' game has been played at this point, but it just seems like Burton could be the stronger team this season. I don't see PV winning it this year, but I could be wrong. I think that when I watch PV take on Lebanon this Friday I'll be able to better judge the teams (even if I haven't really seen Burton).
