Re: Pinkston
What is the difference between this kid and the others that Norton have accepted and allowed to play through the boys home in Norton that is shut down? Those boys had been in trouble, tossed from home to home and finally, through the courts, appointed to the Victory Boys Home. Those children, much like Mr. Pinkston had been into some trouble, but many of them participated in football at Burton whether they were good or not. No one ever questioned Jimbo for taking those young men into his program and trying to help them become better students and men! I attend church with one of the house parents that used to work there and he sung not only the praises of Jimbo, but Mr. Scott Keith and the entire Burton faculty for their abilities to handle these children. I think we all must remember that the men and women in our educational systems SHOULD be in their positions due to their love of shaping the lives of children and educating them to become productive members of our society. Why should such educators (some of which are coaches) turn their backs on kids, espically those that need help the most?
