The real question is, does Burton abide by the "Wise County Code of Conduct Policy" or have one of thier own? If any player violates certian sections of the WCCC he / she can be dismissed for periods up to one year. The VHSL rule also states "transfer of custody does not assure eligibilty. The VHSL discourages transfers or recruiting purely for athletic purposes.

I would assume Norton has their own code of conduct since it is not part of the WCSB, and has their own policies.

This would be standard per the courts as his Uncle would be his court appointed Guardian and he has to change residences from one town to another to live with his court appointed Guardian because he is a minor, which makes him eligible in guidlines set forth in prior VHSL rulings in their handbook and the past. </div></div>

I disagree, there is a loophole there. His mother is the legal guardian, therfor he has moved. I seriously believe the VHSL will not touch this, mark my words.

Why is is stupid? For the most part posters are not attacking the student, they are just concerned about the rules and if he is able to play. It is your opinion that it is stupid and you have made that known. The story goes like this, Coach R. called the DB coach and filled him in and probably added a lot more to the story. Coach R. has done the same thing with Jimbo, not that Jimbop did not already know. If Jimbo decides to give him a second chance then I support it because Jimbo is a stand-up guy.

Hey Lung, do you pick PV over Burton this year? I may have just misunderstood what you said but it seems like that's what you were implying with that quote. (If it's not, my mistake.)

I know that only one 'true' game has been played at this point, but it just seems like Burton could be the stronger team this season. I don't see PV winning it this year, but I could be wrong. I think that when I watch PV take on Lebanon this Friday I'll be able to better judge the teams (even if I haven't really seen Burton). </div></div>

Not what I'm saying. Don't know who I pick to be honest. It's too early. I'm just saying he's not a difference maker that's going to make an 0-10 team a 10-0 team. I'm just saying Burton's results would be more or less the same against PV or CW or Appy or Pound or Wise with or without the kid.

Just giving an example, maybe things have changed more than I thought in the past 10 years or so. Though when I was in high school it seemed like far more than half of the kids who didn't play sports were developing bad habits in their free time. That was few and far between with the kids who actually played. Might have something to do about being a part of something, being on a team... maybe having people around you who cares about you. Maybe those other young men who have been there playing will set an example, offer their friendship. I'd say it's safe to say there aren't many saints in the halls of the high schools anywhere you will go. Kids and young adults do stupid things, some learn from their mistakes, other repeat them throughout their lives. There has obviously been something that's been missing from this kids life. Some sort of guidance, and authority. He's obviously not gonna get that by sitting at house, because if he was going to we wouldn't be talking about this. I'd say theres a pretty good chance he's going to be surrounding himself with good people within that football program.

So let the kid play, how can a bunch of people who don't know the whole story know what's best for this kid. They don't, and the bottom line is most here has another agenda. Let's think about the kid before we think about W's and L's of the team you root for. </div></div>

I know he was getting the guidance he needed, he just rejected it, like i said before without going into detail he has just flipped out in certain areas.I do know the whole story, because I have talked to him many times about it.I do agree though that he deserves one more chance at this and he does need this right now in his life.

I see what you're saying now . . and I agree. I don't think he'd make a huge difference. He's pretty talented, that's for sure, but I think that Burton already has the right mix of speed/power with their starting 'backs. I wonder if he'll ever start this season? Did he play any during the Rye Cove game last Friday?
