On UCLA's last drive in regulation it wasn't the D that was called that hurt, it was players blowing assignments. Only covering 3 of the 4 receivers on the first play of the drive (the OLB looked lost)..and then on the TD, when the back went out of the backfield in motion, the CB covering the TE went with him, and the safety never walked up to close the gap before the snap. When the ball was thrown the safety was still just standing there. Sometimes, it's cuz the players just flat stunk...and thet is what happened to UT's D in the 2nd half. But, the best way to keep that D off the field is ground it out when ur averaging 7 yds per run....

They were in zone coverage it appeared to me. Chavis basic Mustang package giving everyone 10 yards of cushion.

They were zone over the top and man underneath the whole way down the field. But, even in zone, you CB has to as wide as the widest eligible receiver...so he had to go with the back...and the general rule is that the safety in that case walks up on the TE...hell, that's basic football...lol

Not if you are zone over the top. LBs should then check the TE and then drop into thier coverage area passing TE on to another zone/level. If they were man underneath, why was 1 DT or DE dropping almost every play to the middle?

The CB's were man on the outside..the OLBs were on the slots and the safties were playing basically cover 2. I have no clue why the DL were dropping off...guess the same reason the rest of the D had its head up it's a$$...regardless tho, if UT had ground it out, they wouldn't have had the D on the field as much and UT would have had a win.
