Its a tough line between saying someone isn't good and someone isn't trying. Having watched Powell Valley a couple times, they are similar to Coeburn this year IMO. One week, they look pretty good, one week they don't. Probably a lot of their issues is the youth but, as Clintwood went through the same thing when this senior filled team were playing as freshmen and sophmores. With experience, tends to come a bit more consistency. I don't think you get too many people saying that Powell Valley isn't trying, it's just that at this current time, they are a weaker team than Powell Valley has been in some time. Guess what, saying a dime is worth less than a dollar isn't downing the dime, its still money but it is actually less than a dollar no matter how much it tries to be spent as more [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif[/img]

Does anybody think that PV will not be back? Only the ones who want to throw Phil under the bus, but they will also be the ones running on the field screaming and acting like morons when they win.

There is a big difference in saying "Eric Counts is the suckiest quarterback every, he doesn't try and if the center had gas it would probably push the ball harder than he could throw it" then saying hey the passing attack at Trammel is weak this year, they don't seem to be able to get time to throw the ball and when they do, they seem out of sync.

We talked I guess it was last year about Kelly improving, but at the same time we said that their problem was speed, the same thing that was said would be their problem against Norton. Was that downing them, was that throwing them under the bus and calling them so many names that even their parents were ashamed of them or was it being objective. I'm sure Big Jimmy Jones who runs a 11 second 40 wants to run fast and he may be trying to run as fast as he can, but to tell him hey Jimmy you were a speed demon out there today is delusional and lying to the kid. (I don't think there is anybody named Jimmy Jones there, if there is I hope he's not big and runs a 11 second 40 *lol*).

I've said it before when people throw coaches under the bus, you don't get too many coaches who put the time into the program that it takes, who want to go out there and suck at their coaching. They may not have the ability, they may not have the players, they may not have the players respect, have players who fit their scheme or whatever, but not too many think well lets see if I can't go out here and suck it up this year. They try and they want to do good, but can only do what they can do. Same as the players, if you have 3 great players on a football team who bust their butts or never leave the field, and the other 8 or 19 or whatever else number you have to stick out there aren't very good, you're not very good. Sometimes you can scheme and be competitive, or some of those other players step up a week, but if you say wow that team is great, you're lying to them and I don't know many kids who don't want you to be honest with them.

Saddest thing I think I see is when you see the parents who try to tell their kid, the one who wouldn't see the field except with 2 seconds to go, that they could be a great player or that colleges will want them. That lying to the kid is a lot sadder than telling them that they can work hard, and be better than people think they can be and we'll see where it goes from there.

I has visions of Eric and his desire to run the ball today when the Kendell (Kendall) got the batted ball and started running today , then of course the fumble and the play going back the other way.

I see that. But how are they the only truly good teams?
