Girls: I was impressed with the "team" concept of this squad. Having 2 6'2 freshmen,what can you say but things are only going to get better. I think this squad is better defensively than last year's (I know some will disagree considering what we lost). I KNOW this squad is much more physical than last year's squad. I thought that RC played well-especially shooting well,which kept them in the game. I think the Lady Eagles are going to make some noise this year. I am not sold on the #3 pick in the LPD. I'll tell you another thing: NOBODY is going to outrebound the Lady Indians [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/grin.gif[/img] We have to cut down on the turnovers,but this is game 1,and that is to be expected.

As for the boys? Very surprised that the football legs became basketball legs so quickly.I fully expected to see a 45-40 game. Rare it is to see 49 scored at the half in LPDland. It seems we lost some intensity in the 3rd,but that happens with that big a margin. I honestly don't see us finishing 4th in the LPD. RC was simply overwhelmed tonight,but in their defense,the Eagles looked young (722 help me on this?). We are aware that there's a big difference between non-distric play and distric play though. If JJK plays like they did tonight,we'll be fine.

Refs? Hey PVFAN-get that sig down ...NOW. Geez-pitiful. I used to blow a gasket,but figured that I'd die of a massive heart attack,so now I just laugh and accept it as part of the game-SWVA basketball. When you see Robin barking at a ref over a 5ft push not called,you know it is bad.

RC isn't too young, but dont' have a lot of experience either if you know what Im saying. Their big guy is the only really young player I know of on varsity getting much PT. It will be a long season on the boys side Im afraid in RC.

I look for the JJK boys and girls to be atop the LPD by the end of the season.

Boys play hard, I'd be worried about height if I were them.

I have not seen them this season, but by looking at the Coalfield Preview it's basically the same bunch as last season. Sproles is very tough on the inside. They are collectively very aggressive on the boards.

They reminded me last season of a NOT as athletic GC of old when the Humphrey boys played the post and minus a McMurray threat.

It was the Cove, they don't have the fastest players and not a offensive powerhouse. I want to see how these LPD teams match up against GC this year, then we'll see they fair against a all-around very solid team.

They have some role players from last year like Collins who have evidently stepped it up (although I was impressed with him last year). There's some depth and bench scoring,something that we have been lacking.

Like I said, I look for them to be atop the district when the season ends.

Kelly plays hard but they will have to be on (which they could be) to beat one of the 3. They'll beat one or two of them but they can't shoot that well 6 times to win the district imo.
