Counts, Will Consoladation ever happen in Dickenson County?
Never engage in a battle of wit's, Without a weapon!!
Wonder how we are gonna pay for either county? The state is already cutting back on stuff like the highways,... I'm thinking this is poor timing. If we have to wait on funds ,however ,it could be forever. If it is coming anyway, it would be nice to get some "stimulus money" . Boost the local economy.
We'll keep the lights on for you.

Dickenson County would probably not worry with new school construction if they just close Ervinton as the student head count would still be well below where it was 20 years ago
As far as Wise Co goes I can't see them consolidating without new buildings otherwise the whole Bashem thing starts looking silly.
I have no clue if any Stimulus money can be used for new school construction (if it can be Wise and DC would be stupid not to go for it)
It is my understanding that the state is cutting funding for non classroom positions in the schools which would in theory make the overhead of up keeping multiple schools harder to manage than it currently is.......
I am not sure if the timing of the state belt tightening will postpone of speed up the whole consolidation thing
Consolidation (with an 'i' not an 'a') is a done deal in Wise County as it should have been done years ago as anyone that isn't originally from here can clearly see that and isn't clouded by all this "it will kill our towns" and/or "small schools are better" even though consolidation will mean better academics and more opportunities and better everything...
IMO the quality of an education isn't gonna change cuz there will be new buildings. I think it stays the same...and just for the record, I don't care if they consolidate or not...I think both sides of the argument have merit.
