I agree. I am disappointed that it was handled this way. Gillispie was practically thrown under the bus today. Just giving him two years to clean up Tubby's mess was impractical and Mitch Barnhart should have known this.
However, if they'd kept Billy G on, he would have probably known it would have been his last year and any poor performance and he would have gotten the axe....pretty much a lame duck coach.
The worst part of it is these media vultures up here. You would think it was a presidential press conference....it was live on all local channels! And now on the 6pm news, it's the top story and they've talked about nothing else...you tell me there's no other news going on in the commonwealth? One of WLEX's sports reporters was chasing Gillespie through Memorial Coliseum trying to get a comment....practically running him down, giving the man no respect at this time. Give the man a break. With this kind of media frenzy going on constantly in Lexington, I can imagine Gillispie may be breathing a sigh of relief now that he doesn't have to put up with those blood suckers any more. Now I'm a die hard UK fan, but that is just damn ridiculous.
