Re: If Charlie Weis is fired at Notre Dame, who will be the new head coach?

I have been pretty quiet on this subject but I want to give my two cents now and I tell you who I WANT as head coach at Notre Dame. As far as Urban Myer goes, that might be a good selection. Of course he is going to say he is not interested in Notre Dame because he does not want to hurt recruiting for Florida in case he does decides to jump ship. Never burn any bridges!
If Charlie Weis is a big of fan of Notre Dame as he says he is, here is what he should do. Go into the AD's dept and negotiate a buyout that will allow him and the university to part ways with class and dignity. Once again, never burn bridges.
Here is the man I want to coach and if he came in I would offer him a blank check and it is no one in the college ranks nor in the ESPN booth. You want a coach to come in and bring this team together and not have all the high profile players leave for the NFL plus someone who can relate to ALL players in recruiting. Someone who can develop a defense without sacrificing (sp) any of the offense.
That man's name is, and I know it will never happen but I can hope:

    Tony Dungy

Someone mentioned buyout, what is the buyout clause in his contract? I am not sure that ND will be able to afford some of the guys you have mentioned after buying him out. Of course the big donors will chip in, but that is alot to consider. ND is just not ND anymore.

The buyout will be over 40 million. 18 for Weis, then pay his staff, plus a new coach and pay his staff. 4 donors will pitch in and pay that. Money is not the issue at Notre Dame, just the principle.
