    Re: Bcs

I'm not getting into the argument between 22 and Biggin. The only BCS conference I might put the ACC on par with is the Big 11. They are close. OSU isn't that good. Neither is PSU or Iowa. Their OOC schedule is pitiful and their champion lost at home to a down USC. Outside of Texas the Big 12 isn't very strong either. But the SEC/Pac 10 are the 2 strongest in the land with the Big East a far 3rd.
"They (Miami) told me I wasn't big enough to play running back,'' said Ryan Williams with a snicker. "And they tried to offer me as an athlete or wide receiver."

    Re: Bcs

I'm a Notre Dame fan, and both conferences are very weak this year. The ACC isn't that great, nor is the SEC.
Florida/Bama would probably dominate any ACC team. I think GT could give either a fit, and make it interesting for 3.5 quarters.
All the other conference match-ups are arguable, and anyone could live. Would produce some really exciting games, I think.
Pac-10 vs SEC.. could produce interesting match-ups as well.

    Re: Bcs

the SEC and ACC played 11 games last year, the SEC won 6...

the ACC was really really bad last year...and 5 teams still beat SEC teams...including GT over UGA and Clemson over USC, which you guys have already marked down as wins for the SEC this weekend

if the SEC wins this year's (regular season) battle 3-2, which very well could be the case...then it just shows precisely the argument I am making

    Re: Bcs

actually after looking at the numbers...the SEC/ACC have played 4 times this year and it's 2-2...so if GT and Clemson win, the ACC would actually be leading 4-3 going into the bowls

    Re: Bcs

Sadly that one you was missing I believe was the GT/Vandy game. The worst team in the SEC giving the #1 team in the ACC all they could handle for 3 quarters. Also racking up points big time on that ACC team when they could barely score against anyone else.

    Let's look at those closer

South Carolina (SEC #10) beat NC State (ACC #11)
Georgia Tech (ACC #1) beat Vanderbilt (SEC #12)
Alabama (SEC #1 or #2) beat Virginia Tech (ACC #2)
Georgia Tech (ACC #1) beat Miss St (SEC #11)

So really where is your argument, Georgia Tech beat up on the two worst teams in the SEC, awesome. That is where I think your argument is off, you gotta compare apples to apples and oranges to oranges, not apples to oranges. In the two games that matched up well with each other the SEC took both games, in the lopsided games the ACC took both of those.

That is why I think my evaluation was better because I was comparing two teams that should actually be playing each other.

Imagine if our #1 (Florida or Bama) were playing the Maryland or UVA

IMO if you take the teams that are equal in terms on divisional rankings and pit them against each other the SEC wins 11-1, 10-2 or somewhere along those lines.

One thing is for sure SECCG tickets are going for $350 in the upper level. Do you think the ACCCG will draw 20,000 this year? Top to bottom the SEC is not as strong as years past, but will win another NC this year.

    Re: Bcs

im not even sure the ACC is better than the big 10.

they arent better than the big east, the big 12, the SEC, the Pac-10.

    OSU/Penn State/Iowa are as good as GT/VT/Miami
the rest of the conference is about equal, i wont say the big 10 is def. better, but i wont say the ACC is better either.

the big east, top to bottom, is the #3 best conference this year, with two top ten teams, more than any conference except the SEC.

GCHokie, ive said it four times now, you started this, yet you STILL have not told us what conferences are better than the SEC.
nor have you said which conferences are worse off than the ACC.

so if you are gonna come here and start this, you should at least be able to back your ramblings up, which you still have not done.

    and about hypotheticals;
I started early that you CAN use hypotheticals in most situations, if Team A is more talented and flat out better, then its fair to say they would beat Team B.
Sure crazy things happen, but you cant project things like that. You can only project what happens under normal circumstances.

You were trying to play both sides; you said you cannot lay out any form of hypothetical situation, which is horse ****. but then you went on to try and use a hypothetical to back up your non-existant facts, and you say i made you do it haha.

Alabama had 498 yards of offense, VT had 155. VT scored once of a kick return. The other on a long run by Williams. VT was LUCKY they stayed within ten points. It was NOT that close of a game, if you watched you would know that.
your savior Taylor went 9/20 for 91 yards.
I feel very confident, as I am sure almost everyone on here will agree, that if Alabama and VT play ten times, Alabama wins 9.

    Re: Bcs

The truth is you take away FL and Bama and the SEC and the ACC, Big 12 (take Texas away), Big 10, Pac 10 are all pretty comparable. But then you throw those two in the mix and it isn't close. There is just more depth in this conference.

Also there is not a more phyical conference in college football. It wears teams down. It is week after week. To do what FL and Bama has done to this point is almost unbelievable. Yea, they have goten a few breaks but there isn't two teams in the country that IMO could have done what those two have.

The ACC has alot of good teams. Just no great teams. The same can be said of the Big 12 minus Texas and the Pac 10. The Sec has alot of good teams as well but the difference is you add two great teams in FL and Bama. That is the difference.

    Re: Bcs

The Sec has been top heavy for a few years now. If UF and Bama weren't in the SEC then you would have a conference very similar to the ACC, where you have a bunch of teams that are pretty much on the same level and there would be a potential upset every week.
