    Scrimmages?

How did folks look tonight? The JJK scrimmage was as expected with the TRIBE having no trouble with Castlewood and Northwood. 5 TD passes from Bently to 3 receivers, and some long TD runs by 2 backs along with 2 pick 6's on pass defense. If we were keeping score,it was 42-0 over Cwood and something like 28-0 over NW. We'll get a better look next Friday as the competition stiffens.

    Re: Scrimmages?

Tks ID Sad that no one else has chimed in with any other scrimages

Here is my CW vs Grundy thoughts

Starters and primary subs played 3 10 play series with the younger kids playing a coupple of series after that followed by each team going back to there starters for 2 more series each useing the chains

The 1st series CW scored 2 times and had over 200 yards of Offence and Held Grundy into negative yardage after that point Grundy did start moveing the ball a bit better but was only able to get the ball in once CW continued to look good on Offence and was more balanced in the passing game than I expected in the early going I think it was 5 to 1 for those who keep score in scrimages LOL

The younger kids were differant story with Grundy marching up and down the field CW did move the ball but was not able to get it in the end zone

    My overall thoughts are
#1. Clintwood has a HUGE line (Biggist I have ever seen here) this group will be much stronger than last years unit that being said I did not think that they pulled as well so the bootlegs and counters that are a mainstay at CW could suffer a bit

#2. They have a NICE group of LBs That run well find the ball and bring a load on the tackle

#3. D-Line looks a bit undersized but look to be built more on speed and it did not hurt them in the scrimmage however i do wonder how they will hold up to a team that runs power FB at them

#4. DBs looked OK and got alot of coverage work in came up with one INT and a few more breakups and did a good job of tackling

#5. RB looks solid with Cwood having the RB by commity thing going again this season Powers looked stronger than last season and Meade #11 looked quicker and the plays that Meade #5 was shifted to RB there was more speed at the position than any time in recent memory

#6. QB play was better than expected Meade looked good(Ran for a TD and passed for 2 more) Daily Looked shakey but not bad I think more reps will lead to a improvement on that side

#7 FB Looked great with Dottson there if he can stay healthy he may be the best back in the LPD (not FB just Back)

#8 Receivers were much better than expected (Daily made several good catchs that will keep him on the field at that position IMHO

I found alot of Pics from the game postes by a Grundy guy in the SWVASports page

    Re: Scrimmages?

There is an article in the Bristol Paper on the Kelly/Castlewood/Northwood scrimmage. Sorry but as a newbie, I can't post the link.

    Re: Scrimmages?

RC was beat 7 TDs to 0 by John Battle. I have heard it wasn't a terrible showing as the score may indicate. RC had some bright spots, but I am still waiting on some more details. RC's line will be the biggest in a long time as well like you are saying about CW's Counts. LT - 215, LG - 260, C -270, RG 270- RT -330. Whats best is that all of those kids have pretty good feet under them too. RC will be breaking in most of the skill positions though. Their FB will be their workhorse though after a solid freshman year.

    Re: Scrimmages?

Kelly cant even schedule a decent team to scrimmage, same as regular schedule.

    Yawning

Was wondering when someone would say something like that. You are aware that schedules are on a 2 yr cycle in the regular season, correct? As for the scrimmage, nobody schedules a heavy first scrimmage normally. So let's hear the folks gripe about a schedule that we can do NOTHING about this year (schedule changes are coming next year). Our "scrimmage schedule" will be tougher next week

And Mr. C. I'm glad I wasn't picking my nose or something.

Thats what I thought. I flipped by the pic too fast and didn't take the time to go back.
