Schedules
Scheduling has been REALLY messed up by Wise Countys indission with there school systems
My question is if Clintwood/Norton get there schedules filled (A 2nd time) and WC desides to not consoladate would CW and Norton be oblagated to play them or would Appy/Pound and St Paul just be up a creek? (This could be a BIG issue for the 3 smaller schools as I am sure that MOST teams that were on there schedule have started moveing on)

Re: Schedules
I was wondering the same. I noticed that Castlewood already has their full schedule posted online and neither St. Paul nor Pound is on it both of whom they played before. Looks like they picked up Honaker, JJ Kelly, and Grundy in place of St. Paul, Pound, and Battle. I would assume all other schools are moving ahead with modifying their schedules as well.

Re: Schedules
I know Clintwood had been beating there head against the wall tring to pick up teams and from what I understand they now have a full schedule without Pound and Appy
VHSLhelper may know this ----I know teams can have a schedule with 8 or 9 games and still qualify for post season.....What is the fewest games a team can schedule and still be post season quialified?

Re: Schedules
Don't think there IS a minimum... didn't see anything about it in the rules.
Only minimums I see are the recommendation of 25 kids in fb and eligibility for a District Title.
With the new playoff format, I think a Div. 1 team could go 1-2 and get in.
About being obligated... Rule 68-7-1 says, in part...
"A school which refuses to play the minimum number of district opponents shall be ineligible for the district championship or for any consideration for a play-off berth in any championship series"
So, there are a few ways to get around it if the schools don't close.
The easiest is for the District to vote on what the minimum number shall be (I think they probably need to do that, anyway).
They can also allow the "readmitted" schools to "designate" certain games to count in the district standings (assuming, of course, they can find games. I'm sure they could get at least 6... play the other 2 twice, and get 1 existing game somewhere broken up so they could play 1 game against each of those 2 teams).
As a last resort, the Region could add a 5th District which consists of just those 3 schools.

Re: Schedules
I can see the concern but I truly believe they have gone too far to turn back now. IF they did somehow reverse the cram decision, I could almost see them (St. Paul, Appy, Pound) just not having football this year. If that did happen, wonder if they might would just let the kids play at the larger schools and be eligible there? Just a thought.

Re: Schedules
It wouldn't be them turning back - it would be a court decision because of CEASE.
