I hope gc and central play a little bit this weekend.
Luckily the kids aren't worrying about a few disgruntled so-called adults. The kids are very fond of Jay and are busting their asses for him and will be ready to play. I really do believe this squad will put it together and do well. Sometimes the "grown-ups" should take a hard look in the mirror and realize they are embarrassing themselves by acting as they are,and they could stand to learn a lesson from the kids
i havent heard much on central but i wish the best ofr them. they have an opportunity to do well if the "Grown ups" stay out of the way and dont turn it into another Lee high. Pennington and Jonesville were both football powerhouses then with their consolidation came idiot people wanting to run things and not allow coaches to coach. It still goes on at Lee High. IMHO Lee High is a school that should have had atleast 3 state championships, but "politics" ruined most of their chances. I hope that doesnt happen at Central. As for Union coming together, it has amazed me how much appy people are now supporting the program. I was expecting it to be a huge mess but thank god it is coming together nice. durring RR days in appy last week they had two events for union players and both communities came out in support of that team in huge numbers. Not gonna lie, i havent seen bsg or appy this excited about football since the mid 90s. (im in no way comparing Union to the glory teams of appy and pv, just saying that the fans are finally on fire for highschool football again) should be interesting to see if a seat will be empty on the home side at bullit park for the home games
No, but it will provide a beaten and battered ego. All I hear around Wise is how great this team is going to be (not saying that you personally have) and I just do not see it. Hopefully, I'm wrong; it's a no-win situation for Central and Union in the LPD. If they don't finish 1-2 in every major team sport it's an embarrassment as far as I'm concerned.
What I have heard mostly from you (and several others) is how bad the Warriors are going to be. I'm not crowning them state champs, but they will be much better than most think they will be. I've not been hearing anybody from Central saying that (you are welcome to check the message boards where you will not see it either). However we have heard much about how good Union will be
For the first scrimmage, I disagree, I think you need be able to come out and execute and build a little bit of confidence before the 2nd scrimmage or at least play someone of equal talent. The 2nd scrimmage, IMO, is where you should test the limits a little to see exactly where you need to improve before the opening game. Getting thumped by 20 or 30 points isn't going to help in any way, shape, form, or fashion IMO. I think the best way to schedule a scrimmage is with someone you are equivilant too talent wise, that way you truly see your worth, however, generally those teams are ones you play in the regular season and it is hard to schedule those 1 or 2 teams you match up well against.
Honestly, though, nobody really shows anything at the scrimmages or jamboree's, it is nothing more than a glorified practice to where you get to hit someone else other than a teamate.
Central will finish last in the LPD, I'm not sure how that is very good. FWIW, it's just the honest truth; Union should be better in football. In baseball, it will be the exact opposite. I think short term Central is in better shape in baseball than Union is in football.
