Not 100% sure, but I believe I've heard Dickenson Co. Schools will all be combined for the 2013 year? Would someone be kind enough to confirm this if possible? You hear anything when you are at the work place. Either way they are gonna be Double A, at the VERY least D2 rating so these next couple of years really don't matter how many come from the Pound.

I don't know what the cut-off is, but they would only have about 850 kids I believe, I think that would be only double-A if that.

And Cwood really isn't going to be effected that much, sure they get some of SP's best players, but they aren't the most talented team. Both of those schools were awful compared to even our worst LPD teams, not sure how much better they would be even if all of the kids transferred there.

Good point about D2. If it does put them into D2 then that's a different story. If it doesn't I still think it will be a big boost to them. They got Edmonds, Hileman and several other of S.P.'s better players according to the article.

Of course Scammell ain't gonna come out in the article and say we got some kids but most of them ain't no good and won't help us any, which isn't true but you got to talk it up either way. I would say it's was a pretty even split CW got 11 Eastside got 8, ES got the linemen and a couple other decent skill players. It was a boost to both teams overall, 5 of the 8 at East are starters. The real tell will be down the road in a couple years when we see how many continue to go to CW out of the elementary/middle school.

2013 is the Year officaly thrown around (Most including myself think it will an extra year or 2 so who knows)....The numbers will put DC High at around 700-750 so they SHOULD stay single A

A rumer floating around right now is that it is poassable that Ervinton may shut down ahead of the "New School" and its studends split between Clintwood and Haysi if that happens it could push Clintwood and/or Haysi to div 2

Im not giving Central a Chance, simply because its not like 2 schools with Good Football Programs were added together.
Two teams with Sub-Par Football teams were added together. So anyone outside the Central Warrior circle can't imagine them being anything better than a sub-par football program, especially since the best thing going for J.J. Kellys football program (their coach) is now out. Considering the Size of the School they should be LIGHTYEARS ahead of where they were. Its early but think the LPD will go out like this
Union 6-4 (3-0)
Clintwood 7-3 (2-1)
John I. Burton 7-3 (1-2)
Central 6-4 (0-3)
If Central Stays within 2 or 3 touchdowns of any of the other LPD Teams Id be suprised.

WC's project is predicted to take around 22 months and is expected be open by then, so 2013 sounds about right if they're planning breaking ground soon, it is just one school after all roughly the size of what one of WC's is going to be. 2013 isn't far-fetched at all, sounds right on.

I don't agree with that at all. Both Edmonds and Hileman would start somewhere for any of the teams in the LPD. Edmonds was first team all southwest Va. (Kpt Times) last season I'm pretty sure. I believe it'll be enough to make them an even bet to win the CD for whatever that is worth.

Your may want to consider the number of Ervinton students that live on Sandy Ridge and will make the much much shorter drive and go to Eastside. I'm not sure how many it is but I know a good number of Ervinton's kids live up there and it would be a logical choice.

I also heard yesterday that some of the latest talk is that SP's K-8 could be closed as early as next semester due to low numbers. They have dropped from 230 some to 195 and is expected to drop even more. That's 22 kids per grade, they are down to one teacher per grade level in most grades. Heck even had one report from a friend who's wife teaches 8th grade that midway through summer there were only 2 8th graders even registered.

Maybe I'm more lost than usual, but 230-195= 35. K-8 is 9 grade levels and 4x9 is 36? So they lost 4 kids per grade, which is about what everybody expected. I wouldn't think that would close a school.
