Lebanon is not very good this year. Nobody really is though. This is the absolute worst SWVA football has ever been. There's not a team west of Wytheville worth a damn.

How is Clintwood this year compared to the past few years? Are they down in just about every aspect of the game? I've wondered about how Burton is doing, too, since I haven't seen them play. I know they destroyed Rye Cove, but that isn't exactly an unexpected result. I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when Clintwood and Burton play Union just to get a better sense of how these teams compare versus one another.

Down significantly. They're decent but would lose to last years team by 3-5 TD's and the two teams before that one could name a score. They have no depth and the offense is a major work in progress right now. The QB will be good but he's still growing into his first time as a starter. He made a lot of improvement last week. They commit too many penalties and turn the ball over too much. Sadly, all of that is good enough to get them first or second in the LPD.

I think depending on how the John I. Burton / Lee game goes we'll get an idea of their physicality at Union anyway, after the game We had with Lee they are Big and Physical. Burton usually plays Physical, but I've heard they are as small as an 8th Grade Team, anyone seen them yet? Burton always seems to be a Front Runner the last few years anyway, but noobdy is on here talking the usual Burton smack, which gets me concerned.

IMO Union wins this game easy, they may overlook them slightly but from what I've heard it doesn't matter Lebanon is weak. Lebanon beat Grundy but Grundy struggled to beat twin valley. Union by 2tds at least.

On the topic of Clintwood, like has already been mentioned, they are down but they are struggling with injuries with a couple players playing injured and a couple more starters on the sideline. Hopefully with an open week and rest those players can get healthy which will make a difference. Still not saying they will be great though but maybe just good enough to win against some tough opponents.

As for Clintwood I stick with my 1st view of them .....There starters are just as good as last years starters however they are NOT nearly as deep as last years team and it shows......IMHO the open week comes at a good time for CW as (Barring further injurys) they should get a few starters back for a Grayson Co team that is cutting through its oppenats this year like a hot knife through butter

When has Burton ever been BIG on the LOS the O they run is designed to mask that weakness.

Exactly, your talking about a bunch that played for the state title and had maybe one player on the line that I would call an "lineman".

Overconfidence only leads to underperformance. We need a big convincing win. The question in my mind is whether Union's slow moving turnover prone offense can really lay it on lebanon. Union's running backs lack breakaway speed. We've gotta pound them into exhaustion. Destroy Lebanon!

By all accounts Lebanons D is soft IMHO Union should put up a ton of points (After 2 close games the younger kids on the team should see plenty of Playing time)

I agree with the slowmoving and lack of break away speed. Barker is a tank and hard to bring down, Davis has the best ball carrier vision I have ever seen for a sophmore but both of em cant get loose from the secondary. But hey when you stack 22 players in a 10 yeard area its hard to break a big run. I look for them to put up some good numbers tonight but they need to spread the offence out and get the defences away from putting 10 guys in the box
