I couldn't agree more.
I haven't seen them play and predicted them to go winless in the LPD before the season started but, geez? I don't expect them to beat North but they should at least be competitive for a half and this is coming off an embarrassing loss to Castle wood (who lost to Rye Cove tonight). We (the LPD) need Central to at least win the games they should out of district to help out with power points. Central's inability to beat some of the smallest schools in the state could keep Union/Burton/CW from getting a higher seed in the playoffs.
I guess what I am getting at is there hope in the future? Central isn't going anywhere (nor should they) they are going to be a staple of the LPD, as long as it exists. I'm hopeful they can at least get to the point where they are beating Cumberland District Schools, if not they provide us nothing in football. Central imo, is on the verge of becoming Virginia; great in two sports nobody cares about and a real downer to the league in the sport everyone cares about.

The test is simple, if "your" team wins a national championship, do you get a championship ring? If the answer is yes, then you can say "we." If not, you can't.
Central will bring a state title to the LPD before Union will IMO,and you all can say what you want about the sport(s) that they will do it in,but at least it is reaching the ultimate in those sports. I don't see any LPD teams doing the ultimate in football this year (has been awhile in football for any LPD team). If you are going to be a 1 sport school,at least dominate that sport and win state titles![]()

Central Warriors. Respect the past, embrace the future
Many have addressed the question of why Central (formerly Wise and Pound) have not risen to football dominance. For many years the practice of playing "weak sister" opponents was given as the reason why the team could never get over the hump. They have beefed up their schedule, and all will agree that playing in the LPD is no easy task. Make no mistake about it. The teams they have played this year are much better then previousyears. Central has a long way to go before they will be considered a district contender. Will they get there? Who knows. Right now they seem mired in mediocrity.
People from Wise or Pound won't admit it, but I think that the real reason for their mediocre play this year is the fact B.I. quit on them all of a sudden. Have to admit, that did take a lot of wind out of their sails. As for beefing up their schedule, I agree and dis agree. They beefed it up with North, but I still stick by my earlier post that Sullivan Central is and always will be a weak opponent. And, the Cumberland, the only team there that could have gained anything this year was Castlewood due to their proximity to St. Paul. The rest are just mediocre teams wich are, at best even with Central.
Finally, nobody is talking about any other sport on this thread. It was started about football at Central, not baseball, basketball, golf, track, or any other sport. Those threads will come in due time. So, when those sports come around, then do your bragging, but for now, go and lick your battle wounds from last night.
