    New Conference Proposal

Looks like districts will now be called conferences. Also if this plan goes through the CMD will be Conference 40. It will have 8 teams. They are Grundy, VHS, Battle, Lebanon, Central, Union, Gate City, and Lee. Richlands will be in Conference 39 with Marion, Tazewell, Grayson, and Graham.

    Re: New Conference Proposal

Cant see why Clintwood would be put in Conf. 48 instead of Conf. 47. Something more interesting is the football power points presentation. http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/rr-fo...a-modified.pdf

    Modified Football Ratings Formula
The baseline power rating scale approved by the Football Ratings Committee in February 2012
is the starting point. To that formula is added a “bonus point formula” for use with district
regular season football schedule. In districts where multiple classifications are represented
higher classification teams will be awarded bonus points for playing lower classification teams
in a district regular season schedule. A lower classification team will not receive bonus points
for playing higher classification teams since lower classification teams receive more points for
playing a higher classification team under the baseline power rating scale. Two bonus points
will be awarded to the higher classification for each classification level difference between two
    opponents.
    Example
A district of nine schools with 2 class six schools, 3 class five schools, 2 class four schools and
    2 class 3 schools.
The class six schools will receive 26 bonus points (6 points for playing the three class five
schools, 8 points for playing the two class four schools and 12 points for playing the 2 class
three schools) in the district regular season schedule. The class five schools will receive 12
bonus points (4 points for playing the 2 class four schools and 8 points for playing the two class
three schools) in the district regular season. The class four schools will receive four points for
playing the two class three schools in the district regular season.
NOTE: No points will be awarded to any classification for playing a lower classification school
    as a non
    district opponent.

    Re: New Conference Proposal

I am wrong about Districts being called Conferences. The Conferences will serve as Regions and Districts will still exist.

    Re: New Conference Proposal

With being district champion meaningless I don't know why they would feel a need to continue having them. Just have the conferences and play whoever you want and not thave to worry about being tied to certain schools every year and have to try and find games and schedule around them. I would see it as a plus and make scheduling easier.

    Re: New Conference Proposal

The reason they were giving for still having districts was to gaurantee schools games. Don't some of those smaller schools out east usually have trouble filling out their schedules? Could probably see that more here too with some of the smaller ones. They are also still giving the districts an option of having a district tournament.

I say just do away with the current district setup and use this current conference proposal as the new districts. Could move Grundy into the conference with Richlands, Graham, etc. if anything much different. Football postseason will use the format Group A did this year. This conference proposal for the postseaon is for other sports.

Clintwood had a rough time last year filling their schedule. That's the reason they had to go all the way to BFE to play Grayson and have to go to Hazard this year.

Gate City will be traveling to three different states this year in football. KY, WV, and TN. The trips to WV and KY are due to troubles in scheduling.
