    Re: Impeachment?

That's why Nero fiddled while Rome burned around him........

Let's get all the facts, make sure everything is exactly as they say it is, then we'll, maybe, do something about it.....oh, if it doesn't offend some ethnic group, or gays, or women's-rights activists, or Neo-Nazis, or some religious group, or etc., etc.
If we'd only done this, or we'd only done that..

    Re: Impeachment?

ut1, I never said that the Dems had the correct approach either. IMO, their inaction was also a part of the problem. However, I will say this...I stand by what I said about the Republicans and especially about the people in power in the White House now. I cannot stand to be lied to, especially about something that was only to bring the common people who count in this country more pain and suffering than help. If the Dems can say "If only we'd done this, if only we'd done that", then maybe the Republicans have been saying "Gee, maybe we should have looked before we jumped into things all gung ho. Maybe we were wrong." Now, onto my theory:

People in the south are Republican voters for 3 reasons and 3 reasons only:

    1) They think the government will take the right to bear arms, which is not true. They simply don't want semi-automatics to start coming in designer blaze orange camo anytime soon.

    2) They think that if they vote for someone who claims to be a Christian that this makes them more of a Christian, and it makes them feel better about themselves when they cast their vote for a self-proclaimed Godly president, but go home, beat their wife, cuss their kids, and get drunk and whack off to porn.

    3) The don't want to give anymore tax money to the government. This is understandable to a point, but the government's only source of income to pay for whatever welfare or unemployment or disability programs is by raising taxes. There are plenty of people around here (we all know at least 1) who abuse these programs, and complain about the raise in taxes. Pot calling the kettle black if you ask me. You ever think that a lot of things would be cheaper if the government was able to spend money in the market to drive down prices of certain goods? I think so...

Sure I'm overexaggerating, but that's because it's often overexaggerated that if you have one Liberal idea especially around here, that you're a heathen who doesn't believe in God, who might be a gay/lesbian porn-addict sex offender, is a card-carrying member of the ACLU, is pro-choice, and a pacifist that doesn't want to offend anyone.

Well guess what--I have Liberal ideas about government. Economics especially. I believe that a woman has the right to choose, however I believe that there should be faith based initiatives to give aid to those in need (kinda contradicts conventional thinking huh?). I'm not a flag burner, but I don't want to see other people suffer. In other words, I love my country, but I want everyone to have the rights to live in it that I do. I feel religious tolerance should extend to every religion, but I feel that government and religion should not mix (look through history...everytime governments in Europe mixed with the Catholic church, it wasn't pretty for the people). I support the troops as they fight now, but I don't support the causes for which the Pres has them fighting. I believe that we need to save our environment sure, but I feel that we need to keep a somewhat steady supply of nuclear fuels, oil, and coal in circulation because alternative sources of power aren't ready for the burden yet.

Most of all, you know what I believe in? I believe in the American people. I believe that they shouldn't have to suffer because a President that has lied to them wants to have things his way or no way. The way government has been run lately, it's not the government being for the needs of the people, it's the people being used for the needs of the government. That's not democracy, that's tyranny. Only this time it's not kings & queens, it's rich oil & energy moguls.

My opinion only...I just don't like to see people exploited, and that includes people around here with Rebel flags in their windows getting the wool pulled over their eyes by a Texan who promises them what they've wanted, only to make a strong centralized government that abuses its' power. Bush exploits southern pride. Never thought of it that way have you?

Take it or leave it...my thoughts...

    Re: Impeachment?

Thanks bro...hard to have a few Liberal ideas in the south...I can vouch for that...sure you can too. I almost feel like a person who liked to dance too much back in the times of the Salem Witch Trials. Speaking of which, I'm not a boat, I'm not made of wood, I'm not a duck, and I'm not a witch! And I did not turn John Cleese into a newt. He got better.

Dude, I said some things I've never said to much of anyone in that last post about what I believe. I actually give an alternative to what a lot of people on this board think, because I've thought it through and done my reading up on a lot of things, lots of observation time too. Threads like this where we can share our ideas on government is what America's all about.
