What is the best antivirus program? Rocketer, what would you recommend? I believe they are all money rackets myself. I have avast loaded on my new computer, and it is free and no problems for 3 weeks. I just don't trust it though. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I know the Rock man takes care of computers in Wise County, so help me out please. Thanks!
Anymore, you can't count on 1 antivirus program really. It takes a combination of antivirus programs and spyware scans.
AVG is good, because its free. Trend micro has a good one on its website. If you're wanting free, those 2 work pretty well together and then between ad-aware, microsoft antispy, and spyware doctor, you can keep a computer pretty decent as far as free safety. (Spyware doctor only scans, they had a fixing version available thru download.com recently, last I checked its still there but you have to 'find it').

go with Norton anti-virus but don't run it with other virus programs. also get the Webroot spy sweeper. You can also download Spy Bot for extra spyware program.

havent tried webroot spy sweeper
stopped updating spy bot, it went for a good while without an update but its not bad either

I use NAV and Webroot and ad-aware...i think that all 3 a great programs.

we have a good deal here at school, they give us a free cd with norton anti-virus on it so we don't gotta pay for it...although we do get stiff in a lot of other areas [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img]

thats probably smart for schools to do that
with everybody networking, emailing and such
it reduces their chances of being infected
and i'm sure they get a pretty sweet deal

One we use at home, it lets you know if there's a virus and it deletes it. It also updates by itself.
