If BSG is getting water from Norton to supply the residents of the valley to Riggs Oil and Cadet is being supplied from Pennington and the corprate limits of BSG are going to be supplied from the Powell River, then where is the Cracker's Neck section goiing to get their water from? NO one on the council seems to be able to answer this question. Seems like we are being left out.

I personally think that part of the problem in this town is all the non town residents who recieve the exact same benifits that those who live in town. I mean if I had it to do all over again I wished we lived outside of town limits, I mean our kids go to the same schools, both get town water, both get access to the towns parks and recreation center, etc. Doesn't make much sense to me, I've felt this has been a big problem in this town for a long time. I personally dont see why somebody who lives in town should pay outrageous, and taxes in BSG are outrageous, taxes when my buddy two streets down doesn't and get's town water, the ability to acess all the town's facilities among other things. Doesn't make much sense to me. But I will leave this post with some humour. Did you know that George Pauly is being sent to New Orleans? He's already dried up BSG and the folks from New Orleans are hoping he can do the same for them.

I live in the Baum Hollow section, and I would like to know where we are going to get water from as well. It seems to me to, as if some folks are being left out.

No word as of yet on the Norton hookup.
Some problems with a few things. Maybe Tue or Wed. of this week.
Crews are laying lines toward Appy right now, to tie in on Appy's system.
The Norton line is a biggie. As it will serve the Southern section.
While Scott and Lee County will feed the other outlying areas of BSG, Wildcat etc.
The main area of BSG will probably be served by the 2 membrane filtration plants the town bought or water from Appy.
Hang tight folks. And if you really want to do something. Pray this dry weather breaks and we begin to get some steady rains.
One huge storm may help some.
But runoff dont' saturate the ground and give for long term benefits, as in streams flowing for days like they use to.
Question about the water situation.....With a major drought on our hands and winds kicking up as fall begins, will there be a lot of wildfires that could destroy the region much like a wildfire in southern california during this time of year?
It's possible. One reason i said some should pray for rain. Guys it's dry. Really dry. And honestly. All folks who get their waters from dam's, well at some point and time, you know water can't come up when it ain't there.
And right now we don't need a lot of stupidity. Like i said we need some good drenching rains. Replenish what we have lost.
If not BSG will not be the only place in trouble. Norton will follow and then so will Appy and other locations. Heck look at the Powell, that should answer a lot of questions, as to how dry it is and critical it is getting.
You miss some of the fine points of owning a water system, you have to have customers, and that means selling water to outsiders, most of BSG customers arent within the boundaries of the town, its a money thing dude. Also, folks who live outside the tomns limits pay higher rates on water, sewer, and dont have trash pickup, but you do pay higher taxes, thats what you get for living in town.

You hit that nail on the head. My bill for water was $40, my total water bill was $104.

Appalachia will be making a tie-in with BSG some time tommorow and should be able to send about 100,000 a day to them, at least until it begins to put a strain on the reservoir. The well at Appy should be up and running tommorow also, at about 100,000 a day, for now at least, and will offset what is being sold to BSG.
