Gotta go with UT1 on that one...hard to measure motivation. The Native Americans were fighting for their homeland, the only thing they knew and had. The Republican Guardsmen were fighting for a Dictator that most of them probably hated. How hard would Ervinton or TW play if their homes and family were on the line or even their next dinner? I'll guarantee some people will be gettin hit after the whistle and/or out of bounds early and often [img]/LDPforum/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

Compare- Custer left several Gatling guns before he went bald. I'm thinking the Soldiers were a little more advanced than the Natives we were trying to extetminate. Part of the problem for the Indians was they could wage a battle, but their thinking did not include "owning" land or fighting a series of battles to win a war.
