Re: Invincible

I didn't even grow up in those times like you guys. But that movie, and the music did bring back a lot of memories for me as well.
I will also say, it's exactly like the city life was... and still is, up in good ole Baltimore.
I love the city, and how a group of guys, etc will be friends for life, growin up on the same block, then bars, etc.. i guess ya guys get the drift... that's how it still is up there, and i love it..
maybe that didn't have anything to do with this post haha, but hey...

No i think you nailed it to steer.
I have friends i made playing the game from p-nut to varsity, in several sports.
I don't see them often as we would like to. But any time we do meet, it's all about the friendships we all developed. Where is this person how are they, how is their family. And about any of them will be on the phone to you in a minute, the minute they know something is wrong. And even if there is nothing wrong. They all call and check on each other and to see how others are and their families. That is hard to beat today. And it started out just some folks together to do something at school, but life long friendships and memories were made.
Don't see that very often. That is what the friendships and memories are all about.
You and ut1 nailed it pretty good.
Hopefully some of these kids who don't participate or take an interest in their schools or programs, will read this and maybe re-think some things.
I think it helps all the way around when a person is involved in some thing at their school.

Re: Invincible

I agree totally! I viewed the movie this past weekend with my family and we all loved it. True, there were no big surprises with the script, but it was a very nice "feel good" flick that let us cheer for the downtrodden underdog who finally catches a break and runs with it.
......and I thought truth was universal. Silly me......

I saw the previews of Gridiron Gang with the Rock starring in it, hope the movie is as good as the previews. I can't stand a good preview but then the movie looks like something anybody could put together in a weekend.

As a side-note, a buddy of mine on another forum is a Philly resident, representing several generations of Philadelphians. He said the movie did an excellent job in portraying what life was like there in the neighborhood, and the frenzy the fans work themselves into.

I don't care who you like you have to give those Philly fans their due, they are the most hardcore of all. These people are nuts over thier sports, most are ready to fight any second and that is if they are winning.

Re: Invincible

just watched it on DVD today and very good story. The "making of" with the real Vince is a great special fearture in itself. Did you know the real Vince had a few seconds in the movie as a coach?
yeah, worth buying

Yeah, my buddy told me to look for him when watching the movie. I was hoping I'd get a copy in my Christmas stocking, but Santa brought a few different DVDs instead. That's O.K., since I've got a birthday coming up real soon...
