Not saying that stuff doesn't go on there-every place you work has that, but I try to pay attention to the inmate that may have that shank in his shoe instead of the wiggletails running around.

No surprise there. He's just a buddy of mine who just got hired. Kind of goofy, wouldnt ever think he would be suited to be a prison guard. Wanted to see how he was doing.

indeed..

buddy of mine has spent the last two weeks in Marion i believe for Wallens Ridge, whatever training it is that you have to go through..

my cousin seems to enjoy his job up there, even though i've heard he's a hardass at times, i've thought very seriously about the job myself.

by the way indian dad, what rank is after captain? Where does one go from there?

Do what you can by the book. You leave and there is no blood on the floor, it's been a good day.
It's a prison it's not a home for those who just forgot their way.
It's a home for those who think their bad, until they end up there or at WRSP.
Look out for yourselves and your co-workers. And when you go out front search let the job stay there.
It's not a job for everyone. More mentally draining at times than physical. And it can turn physical faster than you think or would ever imagine. Your dealing with a variety of folks. Some who well, should be in a mental hospital, for the criminally insane. It's a job and one that is gonna always be there.
Kind of beats working 5 years to get laid off and lose everything.
Just got to have the mindset, im here and im gonna make it work.

Fear None. Respect All.
1,100 people just begin to hate you. Simply because you wear a color they don't respect.

Many need to tour a prison. Talk about a culture shock. You learn alot, and you learn how people learn to adapt, and develop. Sub culture galore. Be a real wake up for many in this area. Esp. those who think their gang banger wanntabees.

The food. Yeah it takes some getting use to. Worse thing in staff dining.
