All ya gotta do is read the election results, Wise County has never voted for a Dumb-ole-rat. Look it up. What kind of company are you keeping? It just took too long for the rest of the country to see where Iraq was headed. It ain't a camping the troops are on. The Marines in the reserve have been told to get ready to go back AGAIN. 1st year is too soon and 4th is too close to getting out altogether, so it will be the 2nd and 3rd yr reserve , just out troops. For the ones that keep up with the troops that is old news. Many of our best weapons are worn out. Now we will have to raise the tax cuts to replace them. And really, we paid no attention to history- you can't save a country that doesn't want your style of life. Anybody remember,"We are just about done, turning this over soon after the elections"? But it is like Clinton and Bush, we will have to live or die with it.
I do admire Wise County. Republican Sheriff, Republican Commonwealth Attorney, I think most of there school board and supervisors are Republican as well. Tell me spuds, was Ben Cooper a republican or a democrat?

One thing both parties did in Wise County last time (which I thought was smart), I know it was in the CommRev race and I think maybe the Treas race. They didn't really have a decent candidate to run against the person in there, so instead of wasting funds on a race they had no chance with, they focused on ones they could win. It was one of those, well we may not like the party the person is in, but they have done a pretty good job so no sense being stupid.
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it.

I dont really know what you are saying here...I never claimed to know about these bureaucratic positions in Wise County. Those 2 positions are meaningless in my opinion as far as political affiliation is concerned any how. The Sheriff however is an extremely powerful position that controls a lot of jobs and controls a lot of how the county is run. As well as the commonwealth attorney. As you know our commonwealth attorney in Dickenon County is about as uselesss as tits on a boar hog which is why I admire Wise County and Chad Dotson. Its seems that he does very well in obtaining warrants and prosecuting some of the trash out there. Something our guy does a pitiful job of.

Don't know. I don't live in Appy, just have an interest in the kids , school and sports.
What case has Chad Dotson tried? All i read about is special prosecutors trying cases, which cost the county more and more.
Anyone can obtain a warrant. Being an actual prosecuting Commonwealth attorney i think would be a first.
As far as the rest of the politics in Wise Co. well it's about like alot.
Friends to the end, and it's all about the party line. Some won't and can't say anything about it, well they work in it, and they have buddies there.
But it's still politics at it's best. No different than any other county in VA.
I will say one thing. Some of stupid hiring and firing crap ended a bit, with the calming of the parties some what. And i think some afraid of being taken to court, over illegal labor practices.
It's still politics though. Ask anyone who works in these places. Heck many don't even like some of who are in power, yet they vote for them and campaign for them.
Why. Job security.
Wise Co. ain't no different than most. The politics well it just isn't always said, it was because of politics.
We in this whole country let a party idea and platform ruin us.
Just like the call now for a draft. Which me and many others seen coming. Let's see, if it is started, if all serve like it has been mentioned. Including the rich and those who have political pull.
It didn't happen in the 60's and it won't happen today. Not the rich kids serving or the one's who have someone in politics.
Some of you folks kill me with. You party line to the death.
You may be and look what some of your party lines have done to this country and your local counties.
