This is the message that I just got from someone who just visited him in the hospital. "They are trying to get the blood thinner out of his system to see if his blood will clot in the brain where he is bleeding. If so, they may be able to avoid having surgery and they are optimistic he will be OK."

This is good news. Let's continue to pray from Retiredteach!

As a child, I had the pleasure of knowing his brother and as an adult I've gotten to know retiredteach. Both are quality men, I hope he has a fast and speedy recovery. He's a fine representative of this area.

If this is true, then they are giving him fresh frozen plazma and Vitamin K. When mine happened a few months ago, that is what they did. I went through virtually the same thing he is going through right now. It is not fun. Brain bleeds, or for that matter, any type of bleed while on the type of blood thinner he was taking is a very serious matter. I hope that he is doing better.

For all you people out there, I can not stress enough how very sick this can be. Remember Bret Micheals and his brain bleed? Along with being a diabetic, he was also diagnosed with a blood disorder called protein-C deficiency. This deficiency causes severe clotting and the treatment is blood thinners and anti coagulation therapies. Your blood needs to be frequently monitored to make sure that it is not only NOT getting too thick, but also, not getting too thin, which can make you bleed from places you never thought of bleeding.
