    computer help

    here is what I have

the computer has a cd-r/dvd rom drive in the top slot.
I'v got a cd-dvd burner to put in the expansion slot below it.

how do I set up the master / slave. can i leave the top drive that is cd-rw/dvd rom as the master and the dvd burner as the slave or does it have to be reversed?
one more thing, would it be just as easy and as good to set both drives to cable select?

Should be documentation with the new drive WRT to master/slave setting. You'll have to move the jumper on the back of the drive.

Doesn't really matter with a CD drive, they only read what is in the drive at the time that you tell them to read it. Hard drives are where you have to worry about slaving drives and the little jumper clips on the pins on the back of the drive.

Just to add to the great comments above....if you take the drives out you should find a label or such with jumper settings on it.

You've obviously never installed a secondary optical drive.
