As per what Bristol, VA and Johnson City, TN - News, Weather, Sports, Entertainment | TriCities.com says, CEASE has dropped it's lawsuit on consolidation. Couple witht the special called meeting tonight, it kinda makes one wonder if the plan Perry is to unveil tonight was the catalyst for this dismissal.

This is big, since the other suits are tied into this big suit, it might mean the end for the others too. But after all the money sunk into this, it may just be tweaked and put forth again. The four didn't show up, Powers said he had a work commitment, Hutchinson was on the way to Richmond, Betty said she had two meetings she couldn't miss(one the Republican meeting at the courthouse) and Cantrell didn't even bother to send an email at all. The presentation still went on, it was 2 new schools in Wise and PV and Coeburn built on to, plus a new gym for AES and also moving the 8th graders back to AES/SPES - a price tag of 60 million dollars. This will be talked about Monday at the regular meeting and with the way it was talked about, all are expected to be there.

The uniforms for the new schools will be ordered later on this month, they showed a pic of what the Spartan jerseys looked like and it looked pretty good - I'll said that the Union High logo is pretty badass, it's a U with bear claws going through it. The Warriors symbol had a sword with Warriors going across it, pretty badass too - btw it's not an Indian Warrior, the mascot will be like a Medieval warrior. Spartan is pretty much Michigan State, not exactly, but very close.

As long as it's not green and orange and split at the bottom I don't believe it will be any problem. Also don't recall Miami's having bear claws through it.

I also don't see how they can reasonably build two new buildings in Wise and BSG and just add onto Coeburn. If they are expecting so few students to come from SP then they might as well not even change the name and just leave it be.

It is Navy blue with orange and white outlining and it's a "claw mark", like a slash make by a bear claw going through the 'U'... I screwed that up and forgot the "slash" part. I'll add that these aren't official, those were ones that were used in the presentation and are "favorites" I guess you could say - but all subject to change. I also learned that "Union" was picked partly because of the miners in the union around here.
