We've discussed it here in this thread, but I don't think anything will ever come up--just saying that it could given the right circumstances.

On that page you linked to, there's a bunch of examples that could be considered copyright if pursued, but I'd say it's either vague enough not to merit the time/money for the Universities, or the HS asked permission. Check out the Water Valley Blue Devils and the Amite Christian Rebels...WVU and Bama could probably go at them if they wanted, but probably won't. Either that, or permission was granted.
WVU has already gone after a high school in Southeast Tennessee. Got wind they wanted to use the WV. It was a new school a few years back and WVU saw fit to make a big point about logos, copyrights, etc..
