It was asked on another thread where I am, well I'm still here, but here much less often...I took on a job with the men's basketball team this year as a manager, a job I've been trying to land for 3 years...my responsibilities are to assist in the day-to-day functions on the court like making sure all the equipment is in place for practice, play dummy offense/defense during drills, set-up cones, chairs, etc. and be at all practices and workouts (including 6:20am defensive stance workouts)

I was psyched enough to get this job, but this past year one of our graduate assistants left to take a job with UNC-Greensboro as the Director of Basketball Operations (he was from Lebanon actually)...and while in the process of looking for someone to replace him, they came and met with me and said they liked what I did with the JV program last year and wanted to give me his responsibilities as a Grad. Asst., I obviously accepted, and have been in basketball Heaven ever since...my responsibilities as a Graduate Assistant include working daily office hours, making gameplans with powerpoint, cutting film, putting together recruiting packets and mailing them out, picking up coaches/recruits at the airport in Roanoke, doing weekly time management sheets for each player, organizing and maintaining Saturday tailgates, doing class checks to make sure the guys are in class, showing some of the younger recruits around and anything else that needs to be done in the office daily...plus all my responsibilities I still have as a manager

There was a coaches clinic here at VT 2 weeks ago and I was assigned to go pick up Coach Dambrot who is the head coach at Akron, I got to talking to him on the way back and found out that he was Lebron James' coach at St. Vincent/St. Mary's during his Freshman and Sophomore years...he said he was a 6'4 170lb freshman and ballooned to 6'6 210 as a Soph...he said he coached 3 NBA players besides LeBron (including Charles Thomas) and that LeBron was better than all 3 as a freshman in high school

a week later I had to pick up the Dir. of Basketball Ops. from Akron (Coach McFadden) and made a good contact in him, he told me he played quarterback at Ohio St. for a year and a half before transferring to Akron to play basketball...interesting story is that his leaving the program opened up a scholarship for some short kid OSU recruited as an athlete, by the name of Troy Smith

Anyway, he was interviewing for the Ops. job at VT, it turns out he did not get it, but he took my number and said he would give me an interview next fall and try to get me with their program if I haven't taken another position by then, so that is always nice to have

I had an interesting summer working camps at VT, South Carolina, Wake Forest and UNC-G...i've got some stories about my South Carolina trip and their coaching staff that would make Ron Jeremy blush haha

I realize VT got their ass handed to them yesterday, I was busy with Time Management sheets all day so I actually didn't watch much of the game, so I can't comment on what exactly I saw in the game, but you can't expect to sideline your 2 best playmakers and try to compete on a top 25 level...we are just not going to be that good this year, I'd say 7-8 wins and probably a bowl win and try to build towards the next 3 years

I'll try to get on some and post some more coaching stories that I hear, as a lot of them are very hilarious and nothing that would ever get told in the media

I've been wondering if you were still around.

I have been wanting to congratulate you on your Obama presidential pick 3 or so years ago.

I remember you being the first person I heard mention the guys name and me wondering who the hell he was. I know you said the he was very impressive and might be the next president of the United States.

Obviously you knew what you were talking about.
